I generally don't do V-day dinner, but it may happen this year. My date may be playing in a band later in the eve, so we need something close to Logan Squ. Could be Bucktown, etc. I haven't been to any of the newer spots in the area, so if you all could reccommend something fun and romantic that would be fab. I really want to try Longman and Eagle but I see no reservations.. if we got there at 7 would we get a spot? Any other great places that DO take reservations? I was also thinking Scofflaw, but no res.. Yusho? We like casual, dark places with awesome food and good cocktails, but may be able to go for something more fine-diningish if it's not super expensive.

Thanks!

You could bring home a heart-shaped pizza from MyPie on Damen. :D

Owen & Engine popped in my head when you decribed the places you like to eat. Certainly not a fancy Valentine's dinner, but the food always delivers and close enough to area you mentioned.

According to their Facebook page, Longman & Eagle were offering reservations for Valentines Day, but I believe they are all taken.

Deleece on Southport, in Lakeview, is a terrific neighborhood bistro type place, with outstanding food and not terribly expensive. We go there for their holiday specials at least once a year. It's normally quite inexpensive, with entrees around twenty and even better deals for the holidays (typically $40ish for a three-course prix fixe) - but Valentine's Day is the one holiday where they go all out, with a special $100 menu Feb 14-16 that's way more than their usual. They will still be offering a pared-down version of their regular menu, so if you want a more moderate price tag, you can still do it.

Deleece Restaurant at 3747 N. Southport is celebrating Valentine's Day Thursday February 14th, as well as Friday and Saturday with a truly romantic three course prix fixe dinner menu. The three course menu is $100 per couple or $130 per couple with wine pairings. We will also be offering a pared down version of our regular menu. Reservations are highly recommended.

First course:
Ahi Tuna Tartare
chili yuzu vinaigrette, wakame, avocado-wasabi mojo, sweet soy glaze and pickled ginger

Billi Bi
velvety PEI mussel bisque and saffron with rustic garlic crostini

Deleece Winter Salad
winter baby field greens, Belgian endive, Asian pear, caramelized spicy pecans, Stilton and Champagne vinaigrette

Second course:
Filet Mignon & Short Rib
petite tenderloin filet wrapped in Nueske's bacon and Cabernet-coffee braised short rib, caramelized shallots, winter truffles, red wine jus, salt roasted peewee potatoes and baby rainbow carrots and asparagus

Colossal Stuffed Shrimp
plump domestic gulf shrimp stuffed with jumbo lump blue crab & Maine lobster, tarragon sabyon, kohlrabi-potato puree, puff pastry and julienne winter vegetables

Third course:
Fondue for Two
our own house blend of Callebaut Belgian chocolates melted to perfection with an array of Chef's delectible dippers of fresh seasonal fruit and sweet pastry bites.

The Bristol has a new fireplace upstairs, which could make it romantic if you are seated near it. They are on Open Table. On Damen just S. of Webster.
