It's a yeast donut with lots of maple frosting and topped with crispy fried bacon. Oh, then more maple frosting.

There this morning. Nice little place. As were were waiting in a small line we saw plates of biscuits and gravy being delivered to a table. They looked pretty good. We will be back for an actual eat in breakfast.

As it was, we called the night before and ordered 6 bacon doughnuts to be picked up at 8am. They were packed and ready when we arrived. We intended on eating them in the car on the way to morning shopping but we never made it out the door. The smell of bacon and maple was overwhelming. We ate them in the doorway and ordered 7 more for the road. Great maple flavor, nice smokey bacon. We will be back again and again.

If you want to make sure they have them when you arrive make sure you call and reserve them. They are selling pretty quick.

Hi,

Thank you very kindly for the report and pictures. They sure do look wonderful. That the smell was so good you couldn't wait is quite the endorsement.

Hope to follow your trail very soon!

Thanks, once more!

Regards,

I was in Dinkel's Bakery yesterday (home of some of the best chocolate donuts in the city) and noticed a big tray of maple bacon donuts being brought out. Not caring for maple donuts myself, I took a pass; but if you're a fan these are proably worth checking out.

Besides the aforementioned Treasure Island, is there any other place that sells Nueske's bacon, preferably somewhere in the NW suburbs?

Saw three varieties of Nueske's bacon yesterday at Fresh Farms in Wheeling (Dundee & Milwaukee). I think the price was $7 and change for 12 oz

fyi, the regular bacon is in 12oz packages, but the pepper bacon is typically in 8oz packages. usually the same price for both. we buy in bulk at woodman's, where both packages are $5, and then freeze them.

Neuske's bacon is also available at Schaefer's in Skokie (9965 Gross Point Road), with at least three different varieties, the Applewood smoked, the pepper bacon, and our favorite, the Cherrywood smoked bacon.

I've also had good luck getting Neuske's at the Northbrook Sunset Foods.
