After a recent visit to Mythos, I left wondering, "Why haven't I heard a thing about this place in some time?" After some rave reviews a couple years back, it seems Mythos has fallen off everyone's radar. Folks have moved on to hit the latest gastropub. Please be reminded, this place is still kicking like karate.

We ordered the Taramo Salata, which was not too salty and was perfect with the fresh, warm bread. My wife went with the Horiatiki, which seemed boring to me but I ended up devoring the thing to her dismay. The tomatoes were the best I've had since last August, and the dish itself was perfectly flavored with oil, vinegar and salt. Oh, and the feta cheese was damn good. We split the Chicken Soulvaki which was simple yet flavorful.

Service was good as well. My only complaint was that there were minimal lights on and the place was pretty dark. Overall tho, one of the better and fresher meals I've had in sometime.

Mythos Greek Taverna, a Greek restaurant that opened in 2008, closed in December.

We ate here not long before the closure, which was planned (not sure why it was planned--financial, personal, what have you). This was one of our go-tos when we lived in the area, and we managed to return for meals on a pretty regular basis. Extremely sorry to see it go. I wonder what is next up for the sisters.

From the 47th Ward alderman's newsletter today:
    Welcome New Mythos Restaurant

Located at 2032 W Montrose Avenue Mythos Restaurant reopened on January 17 to feature the cuisine of Greek Street Fair. Menu selections will include hand-made Athenian pork belly "Yeero' and chicken 'Yeero' with from the spit. Be assured their menu contains no MSG or no preservatives and is 100% gluten free. The new hours will be 11AM to 9PM seven days a week.

A menu was included in the newsletter but is essentially unreadable. I am extremely skeptical about that 100% gluten free business. Don't they serve any bread?

Web site is uninformative but shows closing times that differ depending on day of week.
