I ate at Your Choice once when it was across the street from their current location, and it was nothing special.

Lai Thai on the other hand, is always a pleasure. My favorite there is Golden Noodle Soup, which has flavors similar to panang curry, with crisp and soft noodles, snow-white pieces of chicken and onions. Mostly I've ordered pretty ordinary stuff from there because I'd order 'blind' while driving from work to pick up and take home. Pad thai and pad si ew are both good here, as are the panang curry... I can't remember what else I've had from there.

The chef there used to work at the thai place on printer's row (I've forgotten the name), which is the only other place I've had the golden noodle soup.

Woohoo! My first post! :D

Lai Thai is consistently good. I like it because you can ask for their Thai Basil Chicken Thai Style (with ground chicken) and they have no problems accomodating, nor do they look at me like "How does this person know about real Thai style?".

Their tom yum soup is excellent as well.

Just one other note: There's a thai place on Waukegan about 2/3 of the way towards Golf from Dempster on the east side of the road that makes the best Tom Yum I've ever eaten (drunk? What's the verb for soup consumption? Supped?). Spicy without singing my eyebrows (which the famed place in LV exceeded), rich, rich broth.

It is Thai Noodle and I have always had excellent food their. Used to eat at Lai Thai more often until I found this place. I now trade off between the two.

Reports of Lai Thai's demise were incorrect -- it's still there, Tava Fresh Taste of India did not replace it, but adjoins it.

Lai Thai is very well still there. Was there fairly recently. Although, I must say, I was not impressed. While the thai ice coffee was some of the best (A good measure for me when choosing Thai places), the Pad Panang Noodle was a bit soggy for my liking and the coconut was not as tasty as it could have been. Actually the whole dish was mushy and kind of gross. Underwhelming to say the least. Not the worst I have had but I am certainly in no hurry to go back next time I am in the area and want Thai for lunch.
