Closed for the second time actually.

I spoke to the owner yesterday as he was doing some final painting. He said they will open on Friday.
I hope this place works out.

Chef Mark Steuer of the Bedford will open his new Wicker Park restaurant, the Carriage House, on Sept. 18. The Carriage House will feature small plates from South Carolina's low country and is named for the small outbuildings that are common outside homes throughout the state.

Just two months after the craft beer began flowing at Park Tavern, Restaurants-America's handsome new gastro pub in Rosemont, Chief Operating Officer Marc Wuenschel says the firm is opening a second location by the end of the year across from the United Center and a new concept in River North in 2013 called Central Standard.

Sadly, Capone's Hideout is no longer. It has returned to the Village Cafe & Pub, which it hasn't been since 2009. Just last week, the awning was covered, the place appeared to be dark, and there have been no FB posts since 6/30. But a sandwich board said Capone's Hideout with an arrow pointing towards the door. The awning is back with the "new" name and no sandwich board, but there is no FB page and no info on Capone's page. Weird. I hope they kept the decor. I'll have to stop in to see what the cafe menu consists of.

The Chicago Cubs are setting up shop at O'Hare airport next week.
The team today announced a new licensing deal with O'Hare food-service provider HMSHost and the Chicago Department of Aviation to debut the Cubs Bar & Grill, which will open Tuesday.
Formerly the O'Hare Bar & Grill in the airport's Terminal 3, the re-branded restaurant will be customized with a sports bar and Cubs-themed menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Firewood Kabob located at 1663 N Buffalo Grove Rd in Buffalo Grove opened yesterday. Open only from 11 AM- 3 PM right now. They offer Kabob's, Falafel, Baba Ghanoush, Hummus, and more.

I'm pretty sure the name is Woodfire Kabob. Haven't found a website yet. Looking forward to trying it soon.

Alain's Restaurant, which opened in August at 1355 S. Michigan Ave., has closed, reports Sloopin, a blog about the South Loop. A reader snapped a photo of an eviction notice slapped on the window by the Cook County Sheriff's Office. Calls to chef Alain Njike were not immediately returned.

Bel 50 will be a fast-casual concept where diners place orders at the register and a runner delivers it to their table. While most think of Belgian waffles as a thick, sweet confection, Mr. Jandovitz said his recipe (developed with the help of chef and television food show host Joey Altman) has “80 percent less sugar” and “tastes like country bread.” He'll stuff the bread with fillings such as pork belly or burrata cheese.

The fledgling South Looper Alain’s was forced to close temporarily after being served with an eviction notice last weekend. Things will be up and running again by Monday.

Le Café (4655 N. Lincoln Ave., 773-878-2233), a bakery and café in Lincoln Square that opened a week ago, makes all its own pastries daily, including items such as lemon meringue tart, chocolate espresso tart, raspberry white mousse cake, and beignets like the powdered-sugar-dusted New Orleans originals. Danielle Papakanelou, a French Pastry School grad, starts the baking at 4 a.m., and then the café opens at 8, serving breakfast and lunch until 9 p.m. during the week and 11 p.m. on weekends. “If you want eggs for dinner, you can have eggs for dinner,” Papakanelou says. Somehow, it’s not that hard to find places that will serve you breakfast at dinnertime, but is there any place that serves dinner food at breakfast?

Chef Nathan Sears of the Michelin-starred Vie is partnering with Adam Hebert, also formerly of Vie, and chef-owner Paul Virant, of Vie and Perennial Virant, to open a German restaurant inside a restaurant.

Radler and DAS are a new concept, at least to Chicago. The latter, a fine-dining chef's table, will sit inside the former, which will be affordable German pub fare with a Bavarian beer hall. Both are set to open next spring or early summer — most likely in a 3,200-square-foot Logan Square space.

Is this on the weekends as well or are they only open during the week?
