I'm taking nominations for my birthday dinner, next Saturday night. More than anything, I love shellfish (well, in the actual food category). Genre is open - if your favorite shellfish joint happens to be Italian or Chinese or something, it's fair game. We are willing to splurge a bit, but I don't particularly care if the place is super-fancy, as long as it's not so loud you can't hear your dinner companion. (Though I'd prefer a non-dive for my birthday, I'm always looking for new and interesting places to try on other occasions, even if they are divey.)

If you have favorite dishes there, particularly if they involve crabs, suggest away! In the city would be ideal, but we're willing to consider schlepping if it's worth it. Thanks for your recs!

I'd put Mariscos El Veneno on your list.

The scallops with gnocci at Takashi are excellent; they also have a peeky-toe crab app, do a great job with seafood generally, and the place has very good noise control.
