Not a bad idea, Da Beef! Wrigley unfortunately doesn't allow cans inside, but I suppose you could either finish eating and drinking on the way to the park or simply transfer the soda/pop of your choice into a small-ish plastic bottle and bring it all in. Sounds like an improvement on my Taco Bell "brown" bags into games!

Now if only I could better prepare myself for rain delays....

I was referring to the empanada's. I know the Portillo's Park* rules, you are allowed to bring peanuts and other such good's into the stadium...pop, liquor and beer in particular are a...no,no.

*-Mr. Zell...can we at least give the naming rights to a Chicago owned business ?

I hadn't kept up with naming-rights news lately, but they have let me bring in pop that they sell in paper and plastic cups from McDonald's, Taco Bell, and 7-Eleven in the past. Watermelon does seem like an interesting flavor to try, though.

[quote="YourPalWill"]On weekends, the roast pork with boiled hominy and salsa fresca at Panaderia Cuenca, across from the Latin Sandwich Cafe at Irving Park and Elston. $5.

As a new poster, I've been trying to catch up with some of the topics. I was intrigued with the older post promoting the roast pork at Panaderia Cuenca on weekends. I went by there on Saturday but the windows were papered over. So I went up the block and got fish tacos at Fish Guy Market. Fresh chad cooked before your eyes and topped with avocado sour cream and fresh pico de gallo in a double shell. Pricey at $5 per taco but fish just in. Then onward to Tony's on Northwest Highway in the Edison Park neighborhood. I got the Italian sub and a San Pelligrino. $4.69. Gal got the fresh mozzarella and tomato sub and a bottle of water. $5.69. Tony's had the freshest fresh mozz ever.

Took a stroll through the Mayfair neighborhood. Took a stroll through Edison Park. I want more Saturdays.

That post is really old, Panaderia Cuenca moved a long time ago.

    LTH,

Was trapped in a no mans food zone for longer than expected, only choice for lunch were KFC, Dunkin Donuts or 31 Flavors. I was going to pass on lunch, but did not have breakfast and was not going to get the chance to eat until much later Opted for KFC. Reason its in this thread is the under $5 lunch seems a good deal, choice of leg/thigh or breast/wing I asked for and received with no problem, two extra crispy thighs, side, biscuit and soda.

I'm a once a year fan of KFC extra crispy, love chicken thighs, should have been a good, if not very healthy lunch. Skin was crisp as a could be, a little salty, but not over the top, unfortunately lurking beneath the glass rod crunch was a slick of oil that would embarrass BP. Chicken had large untrimmed pockets of fat and bird flesh was flavorless mush. I ate one crispy thigh, just could not handle the grease, and left the other, biscuit was ok, fast food biscuit king is still Popeye's, and the slaw was actually tasty.

    KFC $4.99 special, includes soda

HEY!!! There's sauce on your meat! I thought you were a sauce-on-the-side-dunker?

    What gives?

Who doesn't love a little Harold's hot-sauce-on action? :D But, seriously... if the grease isn't workin' for ya at KFC, perhaps a stab at the Kentucky Grilled Chicken might be of some value. I've enjoyed that seasoned variation quite a bit, but it does always help to get 'em hot 'n' fresh. Happy hunting on your next food-desert expedition, Gary!

Carnitas burrito at Guanajuato on Ashland
The meat is griddled to order; "con todos" includes a healthy dollop of avocado in the middle of the burrito (progressively more meat out toward the ends). This was expertly seasoned, with squeeze bottles of salsa at the tables a welcome convenience.

Extra Bonus: I was told you can order "Easy Dough" which makes it thinner and probably closer to Burt's thickness. I'm going to try a regular sized pizza this way next time. Don't want to do it with a personal size.
