Made my first stop in to Bunny this weekend. I had the soft scrambled egg tartine with cheddar and added shaved truffle, a canele, coffee, and mushroom tea. All incredible: delicious, perfectly executed, served promptly and with a smile. Generous shaving of truffle. Crunchy toast by not all crumbs. Canele with beautiful texture and color on the outside, but good balance of crumb and custard on the inside.
If I hadn't been headed almost immediately to another event featuring food, I would have ordered more substantial food. I can't wait to get back and try everything, but in particular the rotating dutch oven and the grizzly burger.
Having sampled many of Chef's breads, jams, tartines during her pop-ups, I can tell you with confidence that you can't go wrong with any of the toasts tartines. I have a strong feeling the same is true from the other composed dishes, I just haven't sampled them myself.
I arrived at 12p on a Sunday. All loafs and boules were gone. There were 4 donuts left and they were all gone by 1p. There had been approximately 5 canele left, and they were gone by 1:30p. In short, get there no later than noon if you really want the best selection.
There is seating for approx 6-8 people at a counter along one wall. I also overhead that they worked out a deal with Bowtruss next door that you can eat the food in there with no obligation to purchase anything (though maybe ask about that to confirm). They also did a steady stream of takeout, with the caveat that I did hear them say that there were one or two items they wouldn't do that way because they wouldn't hold up in transit.
All in all, I'm excited that Bunny is open and I have a place to get my mushroom tea and nibbles on.
