Not seeing anything official online anywhere, but the Yelp page for Joey's Shrimp House on Western says it has closed, they've been pulled from Grubhub, and no one's picking up the phone.

Deerfield restaurant news - Bartaco and Café Zupas will be built in The Shops at Deerfield Square, at the southwest corner of Waukegan and Deerfield roads. City Barbeque will be located in a freestanding building in the Deerbrook Shopping Center at the southwest corner of Lake Cook and Waukegan roads.

I assume that at least 1 of the first 2 will go in the old Stoney River spot where the building was just torn down.

    You assume correctly sir.

Both locations will be in that spot.

City Barbeque would be next to the new Art Van Furniture and have outdoor seating as well. This would be the 2nd new location for City BBQ in the north suburbs as another location is planned for Melody Farms in Vernon Hills at 60 and 21. If you smoke it, will they come?

Still no action on the former Bally's spot in front of Wonder/Great Indoors which itself will soon be The Dump furniture outlet. I'm betting it will be a Culver's. I'm hoping for a Texas Roadhouse (yes, a guilty pleasure/more affordable steakhouse) ever since it was nixed in favor of Woodman's in Buffalo Grove.

    From Eater Chicago:

Lincoln Square now has details about what’s going inside the former Bad Dog Tavern/Mash, the space with one of the neighborhood’s best patios at 4535 N. Lincoln Avenue. The replacement restaurant will be called Warbler and it’s slated for a January opening. They’ll serve American food with the ever-popular Asian influences.

Warbler’s ownership is the same as the restaurant that it neighbors. Gather opened in 2012, and the two spots share a wall. Chicago, which broke the story, reported that Gather/Warbler owner David Breo instructed crews to gut the space and that the patio will be partially covered. Customers with crying babies won’t be turned away at Warbler; Breo wants to make room for Lincoln Square’s many strollers. Tempura green beans could appear on the menu, a menu that should be vegetable heavy — one of the biggest restaurant trends in Chicago in 2017. That’s trend that’s been seen at Daisies in Logan Square, Clever Rabbit in Wicker Park, and Bad Hunter in West Loop.

Mash closed around December of last year. It was a short-lived reboot from the owners of Bad Dog Tavern. Bad Dog’s ownership relaunched the space in 2015.

Along with Chef Ken Carter, owner David Breo has grown Gather in Lincoln Square into a destination that is almost always packed. Now they’re about to try it again, as their second spot, the Warbler (4535 N. Lincoln Ave., Lincoln Square), will open in January.

OPEN: Chicago Taco Authority mentioned on page 14 (speaking of which, does anyone know how to quote a post while using a mobile device?) has done a soft opening. They only have dinner hours for now, but said they will be opening for lunch in the coming weeks.

CLOSED: Beef & Burger on Montrose and Keokuk. Bold move to open right next to the massively overrated Susie's but ultimately a losing cause.

Ah, so that's what JB International Market is! The signs have been up for a while, but no clue (other than a possible chile pepper as a J) as to what sort of market. That center at Milwaukee and Central has been an eyesore for I think close to 10 years: The builder stopped building with the Great Recession, and about 2 or 3 years ago someone started work again by tearing down 1/3 of the buildings, but work has been extremely slow.

They're going to have a lot of competition: They're about dead center between the small version of H-Mart (Milwaukee and Sanders), and Assi Plaza (Milwaukee and Ballard). Several other (smaller) Korean grocers have failed in that range.

I agree about the competition but that stretch of Milwaukee in Glenview seems to have a large contingency of Korean business' including 2 Korean banks and various Korean restaurants which seems to support the community.

I personally love the Chicken Wings, Pork & Kimchi dumplings, and the other fair priced Korean food court offerings from the original Joong Boo Market in Chicago. Hopefully the prices at the new Glenview location will be similar if not the same as the Chicago location.

As Dave148 mentioned in another thread it looks like Panino Blitz is no more.It was a tiny spot tucked away in the SouthEast corner of Oakton/Lincoln which was very easy to drive by and not see.Apparently they must of though they were going to draw away business from Alexander's and get some of the lunch business from Skokie Village hall which simply didn't happen.

That place was cursed from the start. I only just noticed it was there about three weeks ago (and I'm at Alexander's just about every other weekend). Cute little place with zero visibility. I just assumed they were getting a sweetheart deal on rent because even a topless espresso bar would have a problem drawing customers to that spot.

As you can see it was hard to see.Granted the decorations are up and the picture is taken on the SE corner. You could see it better when standing in the NE corner but easy to drive by and miss.
