Hi.... haven't been to the Riv in a good 10 years and am heading there for a show. Was hoping to get there early and grab a bite to eat/drink within walking distance.

My friend doesn't like seafood, so sushi is out... other than that, we're both open to and enjoy most ethnic foods!

    TIA!

Sun Wah can be dicey getting a table without a reservation last minute at peak times. However, once you are seated they try their hardest to turn your table quickly. I've definitely walked in famished and walked out uncomfortably full in less than an hour on multiple occasions.

In addition to Demera, Selam is nearby for Ethiopian food. They have a bar, but I wouldn't consider it a beer/cocktail destination. Additional (to Aroy and Tac Quick) BYOB Thai options include Immm and Thai Pastry. If not limited to ethnic eats, I am a huge fan of Band of Bohemia for both food and drinks. A bit farther would be Roots Pizza (I love their beer selection) and if you want a separate cocktail spot, The Sixth next door. Going south and a bit west, you could hit Spacca Napoli. Enjoy the show!

I'd just note that you have a lot of decent choices (particularly Vietnamese) clustered around Argyle and Broadway, which is only two blocks (about a quarter mile) north of the theater. These include some of the recommendations above. Since you're specifically looking for places within walking distance, you should be aware that others of the above suggestions are a mile or more away, which could be less than ideal for a short walk to the show, especially this time of year.

The Victor Bar is terrific - get the Behave Yourself. My favorite cocktail.
