In another post, I lamented the loss of orange- and cherry- flavored chocolate dipped marshmallow eggs. Now that I made tasty marshmallows at home, I wonder if I can buy these flavorings and make the eggs myself. Are there any flavors out there that you can recommend? I could use maraschino cherry juice and OJ, but I worry what a large amount would do to the texture.

Thanks!

If you scroll through the pages on the website below you'll find a large number of dried natural fruit powders which can be incorporated into recipes without adding moisture (in meringues or macarons or marshmallows). This is not the only source but should give you an idea of what's out there:

They also sell natural flavoring concentrates but the powders add no moisture and can add some natural color also.

Pie Lady, you should consider picking up a copy of Marshmallow Madness if you haven't seen it. Amazon has it for only $10.21 right now.

I ordered it a few weeks ago, and have been happy with the 2 batches I've made from recipes in the book thus far (peanut butter-banana-bacon, and sea salt caramel swirl). Recipes vary from flavoring with fresh or frozen fruit puree, to fruit juice, to alcohol, to malted milk powder, to root beer, to kool-aid or similar mixes, and so on... The recipes generally look good, and they certainly provide a good idea of the proper ratios of various ingredients to go on and try your own variants.
