Update on the (North) Elston Ave Marino's:

My sources tell me that they are shooting for a 9/18 opening. From the looks of the outside of the building, it looks like that might be pretty realistic, barring some sort of city inspection snafu.

interesting post on the roundy's finance discussion board that the stores are a money sink right now, with the possibe exception of Arlington Heights.

The AH store is by far my fave of the ones up north (Palatine and Vernon Hills don't do it for me) but ivebeenfindingmore flash than substance each time I go in. Been heading back to Sunset more often than not.

I've had occasion to get cooked rotisserie chickens from various of our local purveyors in the last few months--Jewel, Treasure Island, Trader Joe's--and the one I brought home from Mariano's the other night was by far the best of them. Dark meat thoroughly done yet white meat not overdone, all tender and juicy, all well seasoned.

The parking lot is still a nightmare, though.
