    Hi,

Flipping through their other coupons, I found another free beverage: 12 oz LifeAid.

I don't know about crushed garlic. Jazzfood who has written a book about garlic, has warned people to stear clear of crushed garlic.

    Hi,

I will aim for the ginger, because that is more likely to run out than garlic.

Costco had (has) these in a large multipak with other ingredients like basil and other herbs. The opportunity to get a single variety I may want is far more useful.

    Hurray for WOD!

    Cathy,
Good luck because I'm hearing that some stores don't have it or that only the basil is available. Don't forget to ask for a raincheck if this is the case.

Where is this located. Is it in the frozen section? I might get the ginger too.

I'm not certain where it is being stocked right now for the WOD special, but I think it's usually in the open cabinets along the wall in the fresh produce section, near the packaged herbs, egg roll wrappers, etc.

I found the Ginger in the frozen food section by the vegetables at two different stores I was at. Both had the Ginger but no sign of the basil.

Friday WOD supposed to be a can of beans.

    Hi,

At Jewel in Libertyville, they had ginger and garlic in the frozen vegetable section. If they had basil, I did not notice.

What I did see was a promotion for National Hot Dog Day today:
Purchase Vienna hot dogs for $4.99 receive the following items free:
    Vienna yellow mustard
    Vienna hot dog spears
Rosen's Mary Ann Hot dog buns

I was driving past the Jewel on Green Bay Road in WIlmette, and so I decided to go in and see if I could get the freebie ginger. I had to go to customer service to ask where it was located. I was told it was in aisle 6 near the frozen shrimp. I walked down all of aisle 6, and I could not find it. I was also going to get some cherries, but they did not have any out. I found out that they had gone up to $2.99 a pound anyway. I then stopped at Whole Foods down the street to get some cherries. They had rainers for $3.99 a pound when I was in there on Monday, but they were $7.99 a pound tonight. I said no way. They had organic black cherries for $3.99, but only if you were a member of Prime, which I am not.

Mariano's cherries are $1.98/pound for Washington cherries.

Frozen ginger was in the vegetable section of the freezer, which I guess is a mute point now.

I looked in the frozen vegetable section and I did not see it. Maybe they were out. This is why I don't make a special trip for the WOD. I had to go to Northbrook, and I had a $.10 gas reward, and so I only paid $2.91 at the Shell station on Lake Cook. Gas was $2.95 at Sams Club in Evanston, and $3.15 or more everywhere else in Evanston.

I wish they would lay off the coconut water. I know they are trying to get more people to try it. I think I will pass on all of the freebies this weekend. Jewel does not have as much to tempt me this week. Their cherries are $2.99 a pound. They are only $1.49 at Aldi's I might go there.

We have more free coconut water at Jewel this weekend. I was at the Jewel on Chicago Avenue in Evanston yesterday, and they had 6 pound muskmelons on sale for 2/$1.98. I was tempted, but I decided I would wait and get a melon that I knew would be good at the Evanston Farmer's Market today. When I got there Henry only had about five cracked melons left that he was selling for half off. When I decided to get one 15 minutes later, they were all gone, and Nichols had some puny one for $3, which I thought was too much money. Has anybody tried the cheap melons at Jewel? Are they any good? I really don't need any more fruit though. I bought two pounds of cherries yesterday and a pint of blueberries, at Jewel, and I bought a quart of peaches, a pint of apricots and two pints of blueberries at the farmer's market today.

    Hi,

I just came back from Kansas City, where I left my niece quite a quantity of waters and sports drinks from Jewel and Marino's. She wondered why until I explained I paid for none of it.

She was also the repository of bbq sauce as well as various gravy mixes from Jewel's Monopoly.

Final instructions was use it yourself or leave it at the break room at work.

I hope Word-of-the-Day continues on, because some pretty good stuff have come from it.

    Regards,

Actually there was a word of the day this last Monday, that neither Artie or I posted. I think it was some sort of watermelon beverage. Somebody over at mashupmom said it was good. I passed on that too. If I had another reason to go in the store I might have gotten it.

Will your niece use up all the gravy mix? I think one time I left the coupon in the store next to the gravy mix to see if anybody would take it, and the rest of the packages I ended up putting in the food pantry cabinet at Trinity Lutheran church where we rehearse on Tuesdays. We are going to start rehearsing again the day after Labor day. We can always use tenors and basses. I also left two bottles of aspirin in the cabinet, and they got taken. I am not sure if the gravy mix ever did. I wish they would give out prizes that people could actually use, instead of gravy mix and aspirin. I do surveys for Albertson's, and a few months ago I did a survey for them about the Monopoly game, and I said that was my biggest complaint. They need better instant prizes.
