Happy holidays, LTHForum! Here's a present:

LTH Forum Recipe Index

This is an index of recipes appearing on LTH Forum. It includes only recipes posted on the site, not links to other sites, and, in general, only more-or-less formal, complete recipes rather than loose descriptions of how somebody made dinner last night, discussions of techniques or lists of ingredients with no directions. The process of deciding just what did and didn't constitute a "recipe" was, necessarily, somewhat arbitrary.

Since my original search for "recipe" turned up 1,144 hits, I've undoubtedly missed some, particularly if the word "recipe" didn't show up or the recipe wasn't in an ingredients-list-first format. If you think there are recipes not in the index, send me a pm with the links, and I'll look into adding them.

Special thanks to RheS, who did the custom software coding (with only a little nagging) and is providing hosting for the index.

LAZ,

How extremely useful of you. Now I don't have to go rummaging through my 2-foot high pile of recipes to find my tiramisu recipe.

Thanks!

LAZ,

Very nice, thank you, and RheS, for your efforts.

Enjoy,

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Do we have an emoticon for kisses??? The last time I went searching for Antonious' Bucatini alla matriciana it must have taken me 20 minutes.

I had no idea we had so many recipes. The new page now has its own bookmark and I'm sure will be used often. Thanks again.

Ann:

On the "LTH Forum Recipe Index" announced in this thread only four out of the many posts by me on cooking have been included. I will provide a list of links to what I think might be useful cooking-related posts (recipes, cooking notes) that I have composed separately on the Useful Stuff forum. Perhaps they're useful, perhaps not, but they'll be there.

Antonius

The index is a work in progress. As noted above, I'm happy to add recipes I have overlooked, and I'll do my best to update the index periodically.

However, the index isn't meant to track everyone's discussion of cooking. The Cooking & Shopping board is full of useful and interesting information contributed by many LTHers. To index all of those posts is vastly beyond my scope.

The LTHForum Recipe Index is, simply, a list of pointers to specific recipes, with "recipe" defined, more or less, as a formula setting out ingredients, measurements and instructions according to a customary format, so that others may duplicate the results.

The index is hosted outside the LTHForum site because this site doesn't accept its software.

The LTHForum Recipe Index has been updated, with various additions and corrections, through today. There are links to 267 recipes.

If you think I've missed something, send me a pm with the link. With the volume of posts, I could easily have missed some.

Thanks again to RheS for assistance and hosting.

Two years of LTHForum Recipes

LTHForum will be two years old this month. Happy Anniversary, everybody!

Two years of our recipes, through April 30, 2006, are listed in the newly updated LTHForum Recipe Index. There are links to nearly 300 recipes.

As mentioned upthread, the index is a list of pointers to specific recipes, with "recipe" defined, more or less, as a formula setting out ingredients, at least approximate measurements and instructions in a way that allows others to easily duplicate the results. I've excluded all of the interesting but loose descriptions of how somebody made dinner last night, discussions of techniques without measurements, lists of ingredients with no directions and photos of delicious looking food unattached to recipes.

I'm doing my best to keep up with the volume of posts, but I could easily have missed some. If you've posted a recipe, could you please take a moment to see if it's there? If you think I've missed a recipe, or spot any errors, please send me a pm with the link. (Ditto if you've posted not-quite-recipes and go back and edit in specifics.)

Thanks again to RheS for assistance and hosting the index.

For your Fourth of July cooking pleasure, the LTHForum Recipe Index has been updated. There you will find pointers to such summer favorites as WillG's gazpacho, mrbarolo's black bean salad, kvltrede's bitter lemon cooler and Rich4's mojito sorbet.

As always, I ask those who've posted recipes to take a look and check whether they are there. The volume of posts makes it extremely likely that I've missed something. (Once again, I'm using "recipe" fairly strictly: ingredients, at least approximate measurements and instructions.)

If you think I've missed a recipe, or spot any errors, please send me a pm with the link. (Ditto if you've posted not-quite-recipes and go back and edit in specifics.)

The bigger LTH gets, the more useful this is. I was standing at the refrigerator with a pork loin in my hands wondering what I was going to do with it when I remembered Char Sui and this index. The work of a moment to find the recipe. Thanks again.

p.s. to the mods: I think this topic should get a sticky.

The index is down temporarily. I managed to break it while trying to update it. Unfortunately, my technical support volunteer is traveling extensively on business and I don't know when he'll have a chance to fix it.

This link will get you to a limited version current as of March.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

OK. I'm home, and it's fixed. That'll teach LAZ to try to edit the Perl scripts herself!

LAZ's hosting is LAZ's husband. No wonder her bugs get fixed last... the shoemakers' wife, after all....

I know it'd be quite an arduous task but are there any plans for updating this index?
