YoGo Station, a Self-Serve Frozen Yogurt Shop announces the Grand Opening of its Oak Park Location

YoGo Station is OPEN!

YoGo Station is a self-serve frozen yogurt shop where customers can create their own frozen
treat with a choice amongst 8 flavors of healthy, probiotic frozen yogurt, fresh fruits and favorite
cereals, nut and candy toppings.

YoGo Station introduces an innovative self-serve concept, a first to the Chicagoland area.
Customers pick up a cup after they enter, and follow three simple steps:
1. Fill it with YoGo Station’s healthy probiotic frozen yogurt(s)
2. Top it with fresh fruits and a wide array of toppings
3. Weigh it, pay for it and enjoy

The self-serve concept means that customers can pile on as many or little toppings as they would
like. At YoGo Station, you can basically “Swirl it Your Way!”

“The health-conscious consumer of today is looking for a delicious plus satisfying dessert or a
snack that is natural and healthy but at the same time won’t make you feel the guilt of all the fat
and calories associated with other frozen desserts,” notes owner, Felipe Yung who opened YoGo
Station. “YoGo Station delivers by offering fat-free/low fat/sugar free frozen yogurt and fresh fruit
which are cut daily on site. We will be offering the popular original tart flavor as well as other
flavors. The best part is since the customer will create their own treats, we can pass the savings
by charging per ounce, instead of a set fixed fee for small, medium and large sizes.”

At YoGo Station a typical 8 ounce serving will be about $3.00-$4.00. The shop also serves up
fruit smoothies, fruit cups, hot tea, and bottled beverages.

For the Grand Opening, YoGo Station will be offering a special price of only 25 cents an ounce!

Sounds fun for the kids. In fact I used to love going to a make your own Sundae place on Sheridan next to the Village North Theater back in 1975-6 or so. The more things change the more they stay the same.

If I recall correctly, the last time I had a frozen yogurt was from Five Faces on Division (The Wife and I lived right around the corner during the late and not-at-all-lamented Disco Era), so clearly, it's not a favorite dessert, though I don't dislike it. Today, I stopped by YoGo for my first frozen yogurt in several decades and it was...not bad. I found the flavors rather dialed down (Death by Chocolate was, ironically, not very chocolatey, and the Orange, too, lacked orange flavor), but it was not bad, kind of refreshing, and although I didn't have any, the available toppings looked pretty good (they had, surprisingly, what looked like fresh blackberries and kiwi). Plus, I'm told this is a healthy snack.

I would go back again. So, that's saying something.
