I just wanted to let everybody know that Avenues, which Chicago Magazine recently awarded four stars, is no longer considering itself to have seafood driven cuisine. With the new team in the kitchen, we are striving to be more of a contemporary restaurant. We feel that without the restraints that come with putting yourselves into any one category, we can be more open to change and spontaneity. That being said, I look forward to cooking for you all soon, and until then, happy holidays.

FYI, ChefGEB, I moved this over to the Professional Forum because it is exactly the sort of official post we created this board for (although as you can see, we have in fact had very few of them as yet). Anyway, welcome and thanks for the info.

Hey ChefGEB. I just read the article in this month's Chicago Magazine about what you are doing at Avenues. You are grouped with some very well respected chefs (Cantu & Atchez) and it looks like you are doing some very interesting things at Avenues. Who would have thought that a hotel restaurant would be so cutting edge. My hat's off to you. I am really looking forward to dining there as soon as I can come up with a good excuse. Hmmmm...my birthday is coming up in February.

Thank you, Chef, for posting this. My husband doesn't care for seafood -- I know, I know, it's a problem -- and I have been dying to try your restaurant. I will now make a reservation for my birthday in November feeling confident that my husband will enjoy himself as much as I will. See you then!

Reporting back on our dinner at Avenues last night. It was amazing! I gathered that the chef was on holiday, but even in his absence, everything was phenomenol. Wow! Those four stars are well-deserved.
