So I did a review of Alinea at my website http://Averagejyo.com
Today the owner and chef Grant Achatz wrote about my review on his twitter pagehttp://twitter.com/Gachatz.
So cool.

Hey, Jyo...

Instead of stopping by simply to inform us that you talked about Alinea somewhere else, how about actually joining a discussion here? A quick search will reveal multiple threads on Alinea, and we'd love to have you join the conversation. I think you'll find people here far more likely to be interested in what you have to say if you avoid regarding LTH as an audience and, rather, contribute to the community that it is.

In any case, welcome... hope you'll choose to participate rather than advertise.

So as it happens I went to Alinea too, and since I'm always interested in new ways of expressing food opinions, I thought it'd be great to do the same kind of thing and make my own video about what my meal was like:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77-jBeve3Gg

(This should not be taken as a reflection of the production values of our regularly scheduled Sky Full of Bacon podcasts...)

Mike,

Your video response was more interesting and dynamic than the one you parody. I'm listening to Jyo presently and I'm a bit bored.

He got to keep the menu. He did explain the bubbles, which I never recognized their significance.

"That's just the type of kind of guy I am. ... I'm top notch. Wait that's a lie. It took me 12 years to afford this dinner."

Thank you for an entertaining break from cooking.

Regards,

I laughed so hard at the Sea Antelope anecdote that I almost tore my hernia stitches.

Beware those who post telegraphically on LTH only to link to other sites in which you have a greater personal interest. You may face fearsome parodic barbs from which few can hope to recover face or self-respect.

All that said, Jyo, I enjoyed the simple video of your day-after response to dinner Alinea. It'd be great if there were some way we could embed vids on LTH...perhaps someday.

I made it through about 2:30 of the original...painful. If this guy were a friend of mine trying to tell me a story, I'd tell him to get to the damn point already.

MikeG, on the other hand, freaking brilliant.

Jyo, thanks for sticking around - please, post about your food experiences. Not to worry, everybody takes some ribbing here at one point or another!

Thanks Mhays, I will be posting about some of my experiences very soon. As for the ribbing, I don't mind at all.

I admire your taking it well, Jyo. It's a confident man who can take a little ribbing in stride, and no, I don't think you're a moron, I think talking to a camera non-stop for several minutes and doing so really well is a skill that takes long to master. Welcome.

I may have seen that Filipino 70's movie with all those shower scenes in it. Two thumbs up.

It took me a few minutes to find the quote, thus I copied it here:

Thanks, Cathy. I couldn't find it in Jayz's link, and I can't find it in any of yours. Oh well, I'm sure it's twitterific or whatever they say.

I wonder if it is a coincidence that I clicked through those twitter links, after finally figuring out that one of them was to Mike's video, and now I have spent the rest of the day ridding my computer of a nasty virus. Seriously.

In all seriousness, my system administrator, who finally cleaned this nasty thing, says that the virus file was acquired at exactly the same time as I clicked through the links noted above. It attached itself to the System Restore function on the computer, which meant that every time my antivirus identified it and told me to reboot, the virus was regenerated. An annoying, endless cycle that lasted hours. I'm not tech savvy enough to call this "proof" that one of these links infected my computer, but the cautious among us might want to take note.

Kenny,

When I have had those regenerated at start-up issues, I go through the start-up menu of programs to remove the varmit. I also use go-back to reach back a few days before the critter took over.

My sympathies on your problem.

Regards,

Sorry to confuse you guys or lead some on a wild goose chase. I'm fluent with Twitter and forgot that not everyone is completely familiar with everything that I'm used to. But uhh...cool post. :P
