Unfortunately, this may be affecting me more than it’s affecting your partner. I'm getting a little nauseous from a couple of those pictures, and it will be awhile before I order a sausage pizza.

Jim and Kenny,

I'm with you guys. It's only Day 5 and he seems to be more than happy eating what I would categorize as desperation food.

Received the following text from him yesterday, which I thought would be interesting to share:

Pizza Boy via text wrote:

Funny, it's having the opposite effect on me. I'm rethinking the fried chicken addition to our next friends' get together.

Today's lunch for him and one other partner was from New York Slices in Highland Park . . .

Double the meat, double the fun!
The stuff that looks like brown pepperoni is actually Italian sausage. That's how they serve it at New York Slices.

This guy is hardcore. Leftover frozen breakfast pizza with the addition of red chili flakes.

I'm not going to panic just yet but yes, he is hardcore and dangerously non-discriminating. :D

Is beer an issue? I would think that in his place I would be getting a significant number of calories from beer, other than at breakfast. Actually the whole liquids issue could be significant without resorting to smoothies or shakes. 2 glasses of oj and half a slice for breakfast, a slice with a lot of arugula and a glass of milk at lunch, 2 slices and a six pack at dinner....maybe a bloody mary in lieu of salad.

Don't give Ronnie any ideas Will, how could you separate a man from his sweet sweet liquid refreshment?

Then again, extrapolating his taste in pizza to a similar taste in beer, you might be doing him a favor.

He could definitely go that route but I don't see him making any more effort than he needs to. IWO, if he's perfectly content with frozen pizza, he's not likely to make significant additional effort. Unfortunately, I seem to have underestimated (at least so far) the depth of his tolerances. Also, at least for now, I see him staying very 'down the middle' on this because he too wants to see if he can pull it off. That, of course, could change. And if it does, that's when I'll know I have a chance of winning this thing.

LOL!

Fwiw, he's not much of a beer guy but does enjoy Jack Daniels quite a bit.

I actually ate half of a frozen HomeRun Inn sausage pizza yesterday while watching NFL Redzone, it wasn't bad.

As far as frozen pizzas go, it's definitely decent.

Tonight's dinner, otoh, is really just about as low as one can get . . .

Willingly ordering from Dominos? That alone should make him a better than even money favorite to win. I love this thread. Go pizzaboy!

I like this moniker, the implication that pizzaboy is working his way, day by day, into Pizzaman. One question: if pizzaboy makes it to pizzaman, does he become/get a Bari Mitzvah?

He ate no breakfast this morning, which gave me some brief, minor cause for optimism. However, at lunch he pulled a maneuver which quickly reminded me that I am in serious trouble . . .

Image
You guessed it, leftover Dominos

Image
Genuine proof that he actually ate it -- some hot, some still cold

Willingly eating -- or as he put it, craving -- Dominos is bad enough but today's lunch really puts things into perspective. He's a junkfood pizza-eating savant and I fear that I have been sandbagged. It's still early but I can already see this one slipping away.

Are you sure he actually has a tongue? Did he have a freak playground accident as a child and have his tongue replaced by a strip of leather?

I'm not certain I've actually eaten a Domino's pizza since my University of Michigan days, when they were the only pizzeria that delivered to the dorm.

I recall them well enough, though, that the Paul and Storm jingle always seemed apt:
Quote:
When you’re done with your Domino’s Pizza
Eat the box, because it tastes the same

However, I'm fascinated to see in the photo that Domino's has so far adapted to Chicago culture that they cut their pizza party-style, instead of the wedge cut I remember from Michigan.

It, uh, depends on the type of pizza you order from them. The original style still comes with the thicker end crust and wedge cut.

Anyway, I think Ronnie's doomed. Pizzaboy has had at least one item of clothing related to a Chicago sports team on in every single picture taken thus far - not that there is anything at all wrong with that, but it indicates that variety is not exactly the spice of life here. I don't see him having a problem sticking to pizza for a month.

I was wondering when someone was going to catch that. It certainly doesn't bode well for me, does it?

To get into the spirit of this contest I will be having sausage pizza from Viccino's Glenview location for lunch today.

To really get into it, I'm offering a side bet. You say PizzaBoy is a Jack Daniels fan. If he does in fact win this, I will personally deliver a 1.75L bottle of Gentleman Jack to you two.

You cannot imagine how much this news made his day. Gentleman Jack is like the Cadillac of Whiskeys in his eyes, so this is going to motivate him even more, which is, of course, not great news for me. :D

Last night he made what I consider to be an excellent call and carried out dinner from Pizano's in Glenview . . .

Unfortunately, the pizza was a bit messy since the kids carried it into the house briefcase-style.

I heard rumblings today that a couple lunch-time field trips might be coming up later in the month. We'll see . . .
