HI,
I bumped into the manager for the St. Mary's Corn and Pork Roast today a the Lake County Fair. It was dumb luck running into him, though his corn and pork roast t-shirt certainly hinted at his association.
I learned they are once again bringing picnic tables under the trees in the front. I was not the only one who felt it had lost its country picnic character when everyone was obligated to eat under the tent.
The food will still be served in the tents on the north end, but not near the screened in kitchen. I learned the change of location had to do with the septic field. Too many people and vehicles in the area were affecting it.
The Moms are not big walkers. I learned they will send runners to obtain their food from the north side. I can simply take of them myself, though it is good to know of other options.
I inquired how long the pigs are cooked, they said 12 hours. I commented I have seen similar sized pigs cooked for a lot less time. He said they prefer, "Low and slow."
AFter swearing off my attendance because of all the recent changes, I am now on board to visit next Saturday.
You may want to get up there a little earlier to visit the Lake County Discovery Museum, which is maybe 10 miles west of St. Mary's. Their exhibit on
Civil War High Tech is closing August 21st.
Regards,
