With over 2 dozen Vietnamese restaurants dotting the area around the Argyle Red-line station, there must be some truly excellent bowls of pho to be had. Laikom and I have resolved to try as many as we can over the course of three days, to see for ourselves how good pho in Chicago can be.

The plan is to meet on Argyle at 7PM on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday night (November 28-30) and hopefully try the pho at 2-3 restaurants per night. If you're interested in joining us any of the nights, let us know.

To start the adventure, we're planning to meet at 7PM on Monday night November 28th at GNR-winner Tank Noodle. From there we'll figure things out.

Hope some people will join us!

Tank Noodle
4953 N Broadway
Chicago, IL 60640

Sad that I won't be able to make it ... but a fellow pho lover and friend of mine swears by the pho at Pho Lily. I merely thought it was good when I visited them right after they opened, but you might want to test it out.

Awesome, Wednesday is shaping up to be a big bash to finish off the adventure.

Tonight we hit Pho 777, Le's Pho, and Pho Lily. We'll post about the results soon.

I decided to post our findings on the eating out in chicagoland forum instead of events. That seems to make the most sense. Follow this link to read the findings!

Laikom and I have decided to start at 6PM tonight, to hit as many places as possible. If anyone wants to join us, don't feel pressured to come at 6PM. We'll be on Argyle for a couple hours for sure, so just let us know when you can join us and we'll accomodate.

Tuesday night
Meet in front of Tank Noodle at 6PM

So far I've got:

snap203
distinktif

If anyone else wants to join us let me know.

Let me suggest that we consider having returning to whichever restaurant on Monday or Tuesday had the most outstanding Pho, or perhaps just those of us who missed Monday or Tuesday.

P.S., the address for Pho 888 is 1137 Argyle.

We were hoping to hit Pho 888 and Pho Viet with the group to add some more data points, but if people would rather try out Nha Hang or Le's Pho, we could do that.

I think 888 and Pho Viet are fine, and then perhaps the greatest hit/s to compare. But that is just a suggestion from someone who missed the first two days.

Laikom could probably attest to my horrible inability at penciling in events in my schedule, but I could most likely make it tonight for a Pho or few. I can't remember where it was last time we went (Pho Viet?) but they were pretty good. Nonetheless, count me in tonight. :)

GAF, I actually thought of this as well. It would be nice to share some favorites with a group. We have already talked about the possibility of an LTH event to viet nam (Nha Hang). Also Le's was excelent as well and would make a great group visit.

In addition to pho 888 and pho viet, I actually wanted to stop off at new saigon as well, if we had time after the first 2. I think we were a bit worried that with the larger group, our in and out times wouldn't be quite as quick. My guess is that we'll be lucky to finish off the 3 stops in two hours and be out by 9. At that point if people wanted to branch off, some head home and others stop off at the highlights of the first nights, of course that would be fun!

This makes sense. Perhaps a grand play off later in the winter.

I'm actually a plus 2, possibly 3--is that ok? And they will be late for stop one but we shouldn't wait for them...sorry for the last minute notice :D
