I know the October exchange date has not gone up yet, but I wanted to get the November date on the calendar. As usual, I will serve a light lunch. Everyone please bring one dessert to share. We have room for 12 people. Everyone, including newcomers are welcome to join us.

I'm in as well. No idea yet about a dessert, but I just received The Cake Bible as a present, so it will probably be something from that.

i think getting hosts signed up far in advance is a fine idea; but maybe we should wait to start the sign up for guests until a month before each event? i'm not crazy about having all the spaces quickly filled up months in advance, as we all know plans will change and people will cancel....any thoughts??

I prefer booking my calendar and signing up early. Done and dusted. It also helps the host, especially someone hosting during the holiday season, and as a judge once told me, the holidaze start on Halloween.

You are right there are always cancellations, especially 24-48 hours prior and I think the waitlist works great in those situations as long as the folks cancelling publicly post so that the waitlisted can make it or decline.

We have almost always been able to accommodate folks off of the waitlist this year.

I do appreciate being able to sign up early, especially as it gets so busy during the holidays. It seems that most of the cancellations are the day before or day of, anyway.

I also like being able to sign up well in advance. Weekends can get crowded quickly, even four weeks out, and it's even worse in November through January. Plus I like having plenty of time to think through and try out what I'm going to bring. Anticipation is a big part of the fun for me.

I agree with Pairs4Life. The only thing seasonal about pie is WHICH pie to make! #theworldneedsmorepie!

No mystery. First-time posters must have their first posts approved by a Moderator before they appear. Irish Baker's post has been approved and now appears above.

I am thinking I will bring Tarte Tatin.

    Thank you for hosting, Sue.
I will make a dessert combining fruit and chocolate......unless I find some extraordinary mix of apples and then I will attempt to make the apple pie that my grandmother made to perfection...As good as any chocolate dessert I have eaten and swooned over and tried to replicate.

I will make a pie unless something goes disastrously wrong. What kind will likely be based on whim.

PS - Pairs...I have your friend's jar. Want to swap for my Tupperware? ;)

I am Ava’s friend and would love to be added to the list if there is still room. Thank you very much!

EDITED: Helen has also attended dessert exchange before. The last time would have been in the spring at kalamazoogal’s.

    Hi Sue (and Joel),
I am looking forward to Dessert Exchange on Sunday and was hoping to come with a +1? My friend Missey is a fabulous cook and I would like to introduce her to the love of food and friendship in the LTH. Are there still spots open? If yes, put me down for a +1. Looking forward to seeing you all! Celia

I crowd-sourced the pans from leek and another kind soul so unless something else snatches my attention I will make buckwheat madeleines by David Lebovitz.
