While enjoying our pizza at Barnaby's, somehow the discussion of dumplings and Joong Boo came up. Even though WillG wasn't at the table, subtle hints were given to me that we should check out the new outpost in Glenview. Let's do it.

I am in but there is no mention of this location on the website and while it comes up on google maps, there are no hours or anything so I assume that it is actually open?

    Thanks, Will

Ooh, count me in. I've been a couple times since they opened on December 28. Supposedly the first few days the place was a zoo, but the two times I have been there it's been almost no lines for the dumplings, and none at all at the main-dish counter. They must be expecting crowds, since the upstairs dining area seats about 200.

Oh, and don't get confused: the place is labeled "JB Market"

Another note: I stopped in there on Sunday and they've added a bunch of condiment tables which have sliced scallions, several powdered pepper and salt looking things, two red pastes and a bottle of hot sauce. Chopsticks are also available in drawers on every table. Water and foam cups, forks and napkins are available at the back of the room.

Oh man, dumplings galore! Only two tenants in the spacious second floor food court.

Our intimate group made quite a dent in the menu of Joong Boo Wang Mandoo's made from scratch buns and dumplings. Cafe Joong Boo serves all the Korean favorites. We were the only non-asian folks in the joint. That's a good sign for me.

Two tips: if you're rather tall as I am, watch your head when ordering dumplings. The TV monitor with the menu hangs precariously low. Also, if you're looking for chopsticks, each table has a drawer at one end that's full of them.

Hardly precarious, they're at face level.

Sorry to have missed this. I'm a big fan of dumplings. But Thursdays are the day I take mom out shopping and for lunch. But hope to be joining you at a future outing.
