The hackepeter, spaetzle, and schnapps are epitomes of care and welcome to me. All too rare in many non-GNRs. And with Resi's, Edelweiss, and Schnitzelplatz, bastions of a receding cuisine.

If Laschet's was good enough to become a GNR (which I say it was), it must remain a GNR because nothing really ever changes there . . . and that's a good thing. Nothing is ordinary here - from the ginormous pretzels to the tasty and crispy spatzle to the wonderful schnitzel. Hell, they even make one of the best versions of fried chicken in town . . . a version that deserves much more recognition. I vote yes!

Even the simple, broiled whitefish with lemon butter is good. Yes on renewal.

100% yes on renewal, it's such a favorite that 30 minutes after giving birth to her first child, my little sister sent me to Laschet's for takeout. :)

Please do not throw your tomatoes at me but I've never gotten this place or cared for it. I like a couple of items -- hackepeter, spaetzle -- but find most of what I've eaten there to be bland or cloyingly sweet and often, excessively mushy. I'm actually posting this from Koln, Germany, where my recent dining experieces have affirmed my personal feelings about Laschet's. I wish I liked it 25% as much as what I've eaten here. Yes, I know. I'm clearly in the minority on this one and I'm certainly a newb when it comes to German cuisine (for all I know Laschet's food is an entirely different style from what I've been eating in Koln) but I say 'nein' on Laschet's mainly because I don't find eating there pleasurable. :(

Come on Ronnie . . . you're way too far away for me to be able to hit you with a tomato!
