Will be hosting a book club this weekend for a book set in the Sichuan province of China. We would like recommendations for beer or wine. Sichuan would be best but any suggestion would be very welcome and appreciated. I can get to Sam's or Chinatown. Thanks so much !

Well if you've ever tasted the wine...gross...I'd serve Tsing Tsao beer if it were me. I lived in China for three years and this is about the only thing I really could get down. Any liquor store in Chinatown will have "wine" in fancy expensive bottles. They all taste terrible to me. I use my old bottles as candlestick holders now, because they are pretty celadon dragons. So, if you really think you want Chinese wine, choose a pretty bottle you can use later
Binny's should have TsingTsao if you don't want to head to Chinatown. It really will compliment the spicy Sichuan food you will surely be serving.

How about some Mou Tai? I believe I have seen it in stock at Super H in the past.

I call that jet fuel. The book club may never speak to you again if you serve that stuff.

With awareness and apologies I didn't see this in time for the OP, or at least that gathering, I have enjoyed Pipeworks Brewing Company's Poivre du Sichuan beer. I found (I think) 750ml bottles at Cardinal Wines & Spirits, 4905 N Lincoln. Please save me one.
