Personally I have a lot of fun buying bottles of beaujolais nouveau and popping them often over the holidays...

I used to get excited about the arrival of beaujolais nouveau, until I realized that a lot of it tastes like cherry Kool-Aid.

Beaujolais nouveau goes down so smoothly that it is easy to drink too much. I have noticed that it is close to prune juice in effect on the lower alimentary canal.


This wine goes well with roast goose with fruit stuffing or duck with cherry sauce, both of which are difficult to pair with wines.

I find it enjoyable w/ thanksgiving leftovers - it's a little lighter and has less alchohol.

What is wrong with cherry kool-aid?

Went to a beaujolais nouveau dinner last night at cafe pyrennes in vernon hills. Food was good as always, with perfectly cooked salmon over lentils. We had the Deboeuf beaujolais-villages nouveau and the Drouhin regular beaujolais nouveau. I thought the first was better, which it should have been, but the other 3 i was with liked the lighter Drouhin. I am not a huge BN fan, but this year seems not as light as some.
