Only one person can use one ticket, not two. Thus if you get two tickets, two people need to use them. You cannot get two portions of DL as one person. I happened to be at FFF tonight and asked if this was the case.

I was also told that if you don't have a ticket, don't show up. Police will be around, and ticketing people drinking/trespassing on other properties.

Essentially, there will be enough tickets to fill up the premise, and that's it. I think a ticket will get you onto the premise, and then into the line whenever you're supposed to get in it.

Most recent update courtesy FFF available here: http://www.3floyds.com/2011/03/18/tips- ... -purchase/

Most important, it seems like tickets are due to go on sale at 1pm (central). Nice of them to suggest a time. Keep an eye out via the usual social networking tools to get the relevant url to buy the tickets at/shortly before that time.

On BA, someone asked what would happen if one person bought a 'morning' ticket and a 'late afternoon' ticket - what's to stop them from buying two allotment's worth of Dark Lord? Maybe they'll be using some super-tough permanent marker or inking people's fingers as with elections.

Also, for fans of their Zombie Dust, it looks like FFF is finally updating their six-pack offerings to include this one. Last I heard via twitter, Smallbar (Division) tapped a keg of this so anyone that doesn't want to head to Munster (or wait to see sixers on shelves), this is your chance. No word if it's cask or draft, but I'd assume draft since I don't think I've ever seen casks at the Division St. location.

A FFF brewpub employee told me yesterday over the phone that Zombie Dust will be bottled as a 22oz.'er and they'll be selling it for $8 per bottle.

Bombers would make more sense for the brewery, in terms of how they usually release beers and all - not to mention that sixers of Zombie Dust might well compete with Alpha King (though then the question becomes if it will be seasonal - as with, I don't know, Rabid Rabbit - or whenever-they-feel-like-it - as with Arctic Panzer Wolf or Lord Admiral Nelson). I was just repeating the scuttlebutt I was reading via BA.

ETA: I wonder if this could be one of their DLD-only releases? And/or their Evil Power Imperial Pilsner (a little more info here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/phineasx/5 ... /lightbox/ and here: http://beernews.org/2011/03/three-floyd ... more-17903)?

Got 'em! The site crashed during checkout, but I managed to get back in and purchase 2 tickets for group B.

Got 2 in the C group. Tried for B first and it told me they were sold out. Switched to C and it went through.

At 1:03PM, the site said Group B was sold out. Immediately tried Group A ... sold out. But was able to get Group C by some stretch of luck. The process was very quick this time with the third party site, but I'm having a hard time believing that both Groups A and B were legitimately sold out within 3 minutes of the site going active. Regardless, looking forward to another DLD.

I got 2 for group A. My friends who I go with every year were shut out. But I have 2 tickets so I guess I'll be taking one of them and we'll be splitting our allotment with those who were left out.

Pretty sure if the site they used last year had been able to handle the traffic, it would have sold out this quickly then too.

Yep, there are only two reasons that last year lasted nearly an hour: 1) No one knew exactly when they were going on sale; so they weren't poised at the moment it went live. 2) Even without everyone ready at the moment they went on sale, the site continually crashed and, probably, dropped all connections; meaning people had to start over.

As far as selling out so fast, I know for a fact that all three groups said nothing was available at 1:14, and the time stamp on my e-mail verifying the order was 1:03.

Scattered reports - mainly via the brewery and brewpub facebook pages (I'm not willing to brave beeradvocate at the moment, if only because I'll launch into a giant, wall-of-text screed against people who are being unusually unreasonable) - suggest that small numbers of tickets became available 10ish minutes after FFF declared the event sold out. As headcase said, I got my two, though, and look forward to the event.

I really don't know what else FFF could have done, at least as far as the ticket sale goes. They announced it ahead of time and used a concert ticket vendor to facilitate the sales. The load times for the different pages were pretty slow but I've been on Ticketmaster and experienced similar delays. Headcase and I were talking earlier and he pointed out that, in all likelihood, everyone buying tickets were aiming to buy two - FFF only sold 6,000 tickets meaning only 3,000 sales were able to go through. In a recent interview with Hoosier Beer Geek, Barnaby estimated that DLD 2010 saw 12,000 people. And no, not everyone one of those went there to buy beer, but still - it resulted in an over-crowded hot mess.

If they have the event off-site, then screwy beer laws come into effect where they are unable to sell the beer direct. In that same article, Barnaby explains that they would sell the beer to a distributor and then buy it back to sell it off-site, resulting in a huge price increase. So, really, there just isn't an easy answer - as long as FFF keeps getting recognized as the best brewery ever by various sites and the notoriety of their beer increases accordingly (granted, we can argue whether or not the beer is worthy of the hype and I'll be the first to admit it probably isn't, in the grand scheme of things), I don't see what FFF can do to restrict the numbers at this release other than taking steps as they have done this year.

Really, the best idea, as far as making sure everyone can get this beer fairly, is for them to stop making it all together. That way, everyone gets zero chance of buying it and won't have to pay a single cent for the privilege. Problem solved!

ETA: Here's the Hoosier Beer Geek article I mentioned: http://hoosierbeergeek.blogspot.com/201 ... rview.html

Thanks to Moetchandon's frequent mouse-clicking right at 1 pm, we got two tix for Group B. I got the tix for $10 each + handling, but for anyone who missed out, they're are still available on StubHub, for $100 - $300.

Both my friend and I were shut out from two separate locations. I had 10 windows up refreshing at 3 second intervals, and the pages just did not load at 1PM. It just hanged there. By the time I was finally able to get in at 1:07, all 3 groups were sold out :(

And people doing this exact thing is why those sites have issues...

Weird. Maybe you were interfering with yourself, with all the separate browser windows? Hard to say. (XPost w/ headcase, yeah something like that)

I had only one browser tab open on that site. When 1pm ticked over, I refreshed. No change, except that the page loaded a little more slowly. I waited a couple of seconds and refreshed again. The yellow "Buy Tickets" link had appeared on the left side of the page. I clicked it and went through the ticket buying process. It was a little slow but I never had a 404, never had any problem. My only worry had been that since I was at work in the process of switching from one ISP to another, that I would not have the switchover finished in time to buy tickets, but it went smoothly and I got 2 tickets for Group A just as I'd intended.

I fully expect, as the day grows closer, to be harangued and begged by friends for the additional ticket. I've already offered it to my friend and brewing buddy who got shut out, and he eagerly accepted.

I understand that people had all kinds of problems but to me the ticket-buying process seemed much better than last year.

I know this is early for this, but does anyone with two Bs want to trade for two Cs?

The group I am going with's tickets are spread across two time slots, and would like to be together if at all possible to have the beer buying/line waiting done at the same time. Obviously we would have to wait until the tickets are in hand, and then would have to make sure there is nothing preventing this, but if there are no issues would anyone be interested?

Congrats to all who got tickets! I didn't try this year as I'm in Minneapolis now and won't be back to Chicago in April. Please report back after the event!

Also, if anyone wants to trade a 2010 for a 2011 straight up let me know.

I just got an email that my tickets were shipped.

If anyone wants to trade 2 A tickets for 2 C tickets, I would be down for that. All of my friends are in A, so I'd like to be able to wait in line with them. Send me a PM.

I should mention that I had this backward. I have 2 C and I'm looking for 2 B. Same as headcase.
