I'm looking forward to checking this out once they open it. I assume it's going to be tough to get in for the first couple of weeks at least. Though a mid-week visit might work out.

This also interests me quite a bit.

I'm going to try to get a growler of Space this weekend if I can get up there.

I had an IPA called She Wolf while at the Great Taste in Madison this past August. If they can it, I'll be buying it. It may be on the tap room's list as it was pretty popular at the GT. Here are the others from their GT line-up:

-Akari Shogun - American Pale Wheat Ale
-Barrel Aged Dripping - Saison / Farmhouse Ale
-Barrel Aged Over Ale - American Brown Ale
-Baume - American Stout
-Big Hugs - American Double / Imperial Stout
-Daisy Cutter - well, you know already
-Goassamer - Same as above
-King Puff - Euro Strong Lager
-Shewolf - American IPA
-Sunday in Saigon - Saison / Farmhouse Ale

Please report back after your visit. Thanks much...

While returning a keg and getting a growler fill there last weekend, the employee I spoke with suggested a likely end of month (October) opening for the tap room. Peeked in under the paper over the windows and the space looks really nice, if a bit spartan.

SheWolf is a seasonal release that I think they do once a year. It's a collaboration they do with Three Floyds (but oddly it isn't sold at FFF, only at Half Acre) They just released it about 3 months ago in bombers and growler fills. They ran out in about 4 or 5 days. I went through several bombers of that as it's a great IPA imo.

I will post an update once they open the tap room and I have a chance to get in there. I may go up there this weekend to get a growler filled with their Vallejo IPA that they just released today.

Today, November 2, 2012, we open the Half Acre Tap Room.

Opening this space is the culmination of a lot of hard work by many people. The result: a traditional tap room where we, as brewers, can host people and share with them what we do.

A Tap Room is not a brewpub, not a restaurant and not a bar. A Tap Room is the one place where you can drink the beers a production brewer makes right from the source. The Tap Room has deep roots in the brewing world, but little experience in Chicago. The Tap Room is an experience all its own; a place where brewers exhibit their efforts — and beer brewed within those walls is paramount.

We invite you to visit our brewery and enjoy our new Tap Room.

Hours will be:

Sunday – Thursday: 12pm – 11pm

Friday: 12pm – 2am

Saturday: 11am – 2am

In addition, our brewery store, where you can buy beer and merchandise to go, will now be open on Mondays from 12pm – 8pm.

Per twitter, they tapped She Wolf tonight at the Tap Room. No idea how long it will last.

I was there last Monday and had a really good time. Really friendly staff all around and really nice space to tip a few back. I had the Quakerbridge barley wine and ended up buying 4 bombers of it before we left.

I also got a half-growler of their Chubstep Porter. That's an excellent and very drinkable beer. I also enjoyed the Taco Day pale ale. Not quite as good as Space, which they were out of, but still very good.

Can't wait to hit it up again in the near future.

This place is great. I really like how they will sell you growlers after the store closes, and how you can now bring in and enjoy food. gorack, I also prefer space to the taco day, when I went to the store last week I was told that they didn't anticipate how popular it would be and are making more available soon, so check back.

I've stopped in a couple of times since they've opened. I love the space and Space, the beer. I like that they have different sizes to choose from and nothing goes over $5. Chub Step is excellent. Haven't brought food in, but the opportunity to bring some great steak tacos from Asadero is just awesome.

Black and Burly Tuesday this Tuesday Dec. 4

This event will take place inside our tap room, where we'll celebrate beers both dark and hefty. A tap list of what's pouring is available below:

Pouring from noon, while supplies last:

Barrel-Aged Over Ale
Chub Step
Quakerbridge Barley Wine
Sticky Fat
Thunder & Son (2010)
Two Tugs Brown Ale (Collaboration w/ Perennial Artisan Ales)
The Hammer, The Bullet, & The Vise

Special tappings taking place throughout the day:

Baume
Big Hugs (2011)
The Chairman
Chocolate Camaro
+ surprises

I'll be hitting this with a few coworkers. One of them told me that he heard the special tappings would happen later like after 5pm. Not sure if that's true but we'll be up there around 5:30 or 6 to see what they have going on.

Picked up a 1/6 barrel of Daisy Saturday and looked at the new space. Great folks and a great place. Nice to have a neighborhood brewery a few blocks away.

This place is awesome! I have really enjoyed chatting with the bartenders and brewers and reading the excellent magazines they had set out.

Today Half Acre released a collabortation with Three Floyds. It's an IPA called Anicca and will only be available in the taproom (no growler fills or bottles.)

They also have Space for their Firkin Friday special today.

Quote:
On Firkin: Space IPA with Polaris Hops

Updated: 3/1/13

Firkin Friday: Every Friday we tap a 10 gallon firkin filled with one of our finely crafted brews. The cask may be conditioned with hops, fruits, herbs, etc... for your experimental enjoyment. Served gravity-pour style at a warmer temperature and self carbonated, these "real ales" are a treat! Tapped Fridays @ noon and pours until it runs dry.
