Hi,

I am likely interested. When you have menu and price, will you post it?

Regards,

Depending on the timing, I'd love to attend -- probably + 1 or 2.

TT, 1/26/09 seems the date, though obviously Kelly will confirm the date and time. Either way, I both Ellen and I would love to attend.

ok my foodie dears, the day has arrived! and no, it's not because you all were pushing for information. there were a few kinks to work out and i worked them out tonight. so, to get signed up for the dinner, please call me, kelly, at the restaurant and leave a credit card number with me over the phone so i can confirm your seat. rule #1: i will run the card the day of the dinner, so whether or not you show up, you will be charged, unless you call me before 5pm the day of the dinner to tell me you're not coming. rule #2: if you are allergic to ANYTHING at all, i do not recommend this dinner. i cannot accommodate everyone on this dinner because it's different from all the others. you know i would love to if i could, but i can't this time. THERE IS NO EXCEPTION TO THESE TWO RULES! info is as follows:

price: $25/person, tax, tip, and byo included (beer and soda from us is separate, as usual)

time and date: 7pm, jan. 26, 2009 (it's a monday)

seating limit: 30 people, first come first serve. once i reach 30, i will take down phone numbers in case anyone cancels on the day of the dinner and i will call you going down the list. if i don't hear from you within an hour, i will move on to the next person on the list. the reason is because of the type of food i'm serving and it makes a big difference to have the seats filled.

food: we are having pun choy. hakka style new year's dinner. for those of you with knowledge, bear with me a moment. pun choy's direct translation is basically basin food. or as we kids like to call it, bucket food. hakka people are mostly nomadic and tend to live and work quite far from their hometowns. so when new year's rolled around and they went home for a visit, they would bring food from where ever they were working or cook food and brought that to dinner. unfortunately, the food would be cold by the time they arrived (of course) and it was a major logistical nightmare to reheat food from 20 or 30 different people. so what they did was get some large basins, layered everything in, and reheated all the foods together. reason i can't accommodate allergies is because we have to cook everything together and there will be cross contamination. we will try to work on different "basins" in the future but family tradition dictates that the first meal of the year be as "rich" and "glorious" as possible so we can't do vegetarians either.

so, now that most of the information is out, know that we love you all, whether you are allergic to anything or not, vegetarian or not, or will just vacuum everything we put in front of you. ^_^ we hope that everyone will enjoy the dinner and we hope to see you all soon!

quack quack and lots of love,
kelly

Poon choi - isn't as unappetizing as it sounds. In fact, it sounds like how I used to eat takeout from Chinese buffets.

We're looking forward to this dinner and celebrating with our LTH and Sun Wah friends. From the little internet research I did about poon choy, it sounds like we're in for an amazing meal.

Thanks so much to Kelly for letting us LTHers know about the dinner and coordinating our participation.

I'm guessing we're likely to be seated family style, given that the food will be served in large vessels. So, who else is in?

Ronna
