Very nice piece in the Trib today. I'm hoping to stop by next Tuesday and taste the results, any other LTHer's want to join me?

I walked into Andrew Zimmern, host of Travel Channel's Bizarre Foods on Monday at 7:50am in the Vienna Beef main lobby. At 10:30, the camera crew was waiting for my class at the taste panel.

Hi,

If you have the book, is there any mention of the Tomato Lady? Molly O'Neill's personal assistant contacted me seeking her contact information sometime ago. I have a feeling it may have been related to this project.

Thanks!

Regards,

Hi Cathy,

I've only seen the book once in Barnes & Noble and my copy is coming from Amazon later this week. I'll let you know.

Thanks, Zoid. I watched the program at a neighbor's home on DirecTV, since very few local cable carriers host the Cooking Channel. It will eventually be posted on the internet.

The Vienna Beef Factory Store has small, seasoned, uncooked, corned beef flats on sale ($16/4lb). I made one yesterday for dinner and can attest, it's hand down, one of the best I've ever had. The flats are also available at Costco. I followed the directions on the package, cooked it a bit longer with just enough water to cover the flat, using absolutely no additional seasonings. Be sure to cut it against the grain and it will crumble and melt in your mouth. If you like the corned beef at Jake's, Benji's, and McBob's in Milwaukee, you'll appreciate this home cooked product. Guaranteed!

Glad to hear how much you liked it, because I picked up one of those at Costco to cook for St. Patrick's Day today.

This Tuesday's weather forecast calls for rain/snow showers, so the Jalapeno Cheddar Day will be rescheduled for Tuesday, May 3rd.
