The wife says:
"We should go and get a new hard drive for your mother's laptop for xmas." (her hard drive simply died, we replaced it with one of ours and it fired right up, so we know it's just the hard drive.) "We could run out to the Microcenter on Ogden in Westmont, and make some stops at places we need on the way, it'll work out nicely.'

What you hear:

*Dad is actually a thoughtful and adventurous eater and has worked and lived in many places, but this is just about his ideal list when he has a rare bachelor week.

Yesterday his co-worker noticed that he was eating spaghetti (leftovers, no less) and the following conversation transpired:

Co-Worker: Did your wife make that?
Mr. Pie's response: Why, yes she did!
Co-Worker: You should make your own food!
Mr. Pie's next thought: Why don't you go to hell?

So proud. Though despite the great itch to actually say that, he came up with a typically diplomatic response. This co-worker also has some crazy aversion to peanut butter sandwiches, and I have had this overwhelming desire to send Mr. Pie to work with a massive one just to freak her out.

When you have a 2 hour layover at an airport (Charlotte, NC) at lunchtime and all you can think about is "can I get good or at least decent BBQ?".

I found out from someone in my company based there that one of the places I found on-line (Brookwood Farms) serves BBQ from Siler City, NC. Eastern style BBQ, vinegar based. Just what I like!

I'm flying this Friday so I'll let ya'll know.

If anyone is serious about getting to Old Fashioned Donuts via CTA, it's quite easy. Take the Red Line to 95th then catch either a #34 South Michigan or #119 Michigan/119th bus to 113th Street, about a 10 minute ride. The bus will let you off on the northwest corner 2 or 3 doors south of Old Fashioned. Northbound bus stop is across the street on the northeast corner. Both buses run at least every 15 minutes most of the day so it's unlikely you'll have to wait too long. Also, dumpstermcnuggets reported getting there by Metra but it's a longer walk from the station and the trains are sometimes infrequent.

That makes me wish he lived in Chicago so I could vote for him.

You start to design an app for disguising LTH on your iPhone (different fonts, palette, hidden title and icon) so that you can read LTH on your iPhone at a restaurant without worrying your waitress or itamae is going to recognize the site.

After reading the Gene & Jude's thread, you get so hungry you convince a friend to drive you to Jimmy's since they weren't willing to go as far as Gene & Jude's. Not only do you have a new convert for "depression dogs", but you share the parking lot with 2 city snow plows and a front end loader taking a quick break from plowing.

I was at New Rebozo this weekend for the last Chiles en Nogado of the season. Everything was going fine until I hit something incredibly spicy. I was in tears, my mouth was on fire, my nose was running, and the water/tortilla chips/more food technique did nothing to help. Yet I kept eating.
Can't stop so damn good can I please have a glass of milk so I can finish this dish?

I've had a serious G&J hankering since the resurgence of that thread. Yesterday, I asked three friends to drive me to River Grove. Super Bowl blah blah is all I heard. If anyone is going out that way, I'm getting desperate...

In yoga class, teacher is walking around giving verbal cues for adjustments, walks by me and says, "Sharon, supinate." I know this word well, to rotate one's limb or foot outward, because I hear it often given my natural tendency to do the opposite, or pronate.

Yet, every time I'm told to supinate, I immediately begin to think about making soup. Shouldn't this word mean "to make soup"? Seems only right. Yoga teacher, knowing the general tendency of my mind during class to wander to things edible, says to me after we're all done for the evening, "So, I bet you're thinking about soup..." Clairvoyant, he is. That night it was cream of parsley.

It does. It's spelled soupinate. To turn a nonsoup substance into soup is known as soupify.

I got the foie lobe at Chicago Game & Gourmet. Really nice folks - I called that morning, told them what I wanted (I got Magret breasts in addition to the foie), stopped by later that day and they had it sitting and waiting for me.

I had heard about the place multiple times in the past, but had never been. They've got a great range of products that are tough to source elsewhere. I'll definitely be back.
