Yesterday and today, I have been unable to stop listening to this album:

Necrocomiccon - Hot Dog Cart Hunger, which consists of black metal covers of 80s pop hits, and can be downloaded from the band's facebook page here. It is approximately the Best Thing Ever.

"Careless Whisper" was never more moving than when performed by a chorus of Satan's minions.

Seventy-Six Trombones-- Wow!

You gotta be a great flim-flam artist to keep the folks happy when they know they've been conned.

Autumn Sky. Blackmore's Night. Saw this the other day and the name caught my eye. Nah, couldn't be. He must be dead by now.
Wrong. Ten! titles out by this band. Now an "English-American Renaissance-themed folk rock duo led by Ritchie Blackmore (acoustic and electric guitar) and Candice Night."

A 1982 recording by Roky Erickson, lead singer of the '60s outfit The 13th Floor Elevators. They were the first band to use the term "pyschedelic" to describe their recordings. Roky himself ended up in a mental institution for several years but emerged to record some great stuff, including a 2007 Austin City Limits show with Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) sitting in on guitar. Another unusual thing about his band is that they feature an electric auto-harp.

Going back to some late 90's Widespread Panic: 5/8/97 - Set I - Vic Theatre Chicago, IL.

Masterfull: Rebirtha > Low Spark, then a killer Chilly Water to end the set with David Blackmon on fiddle

As much as I like WSP nowdays, 90's WSP with Houser on guitar is bad ass. Cancer took that young man much too soon.

A heads up on "local" WSP Fall tour dates:

10/20 - 10/22 - Milwaukee, WI.

10/28 & 10/29 - Chicago, IL.

Maybe the last time to catch the boys before they go on hiatus.
