Beethoven "Waldstein" sonata; various perfs.

Otherwise been in a sort of nostalgic folky, rootsy mood. Hence: old Steve Goodman, new Levon Helm, Norman Blake, and Loudon Wainwright's Charlie Poole album.

And the re-formatted, 2-disc "Ellington at Newport" which restores lots of music dropped from the orig. release, as well as the proper track order and has terrific, detailed notes included.

Lately all White Sox or WSP all the time.

In the cd player now:

6/26/2011 Red Rocks, CO. - 1st Set

WOndering > SUrprise Valley > C. Brown

In Surprise Valley Jimmy's guitar caught my ear immediatly. Great sustain, tone and daydream inducing exploration.

Psyched about the upcoming Fall tour:

seeing the boys 10/22 in Milwaukee, 10/29 in CHicago...

And the highlight..... Halloween night @ the Aragon Brawlroom in Chicago. :D

Not the Dixie Chicks, although I like (daddy) Lloyd Maines' steel work on lots of other stuff.

Right now listening to stuff by the Drive By Truckers; and, just finished a marathon listening session of Ramones. Anybody hearing "Touring" has to think of the Beach Boys on steroids.

Zoid, thanks for posting the link. I love Rodrigo y Gabriela's music. Listening to their "Diablo Rojo" now and have created stations for them on both Jango and Pandora. But I've never seen them play, amazing to watch.

I've been listening to Miles for about ten years now, taking my time, album by album (in no chronological order). I love the 70s stuff.

This is the best live album I've heard from him (barely edges out Live Evil, haven't invested in the complete Plugged Nickel yet).

Little Steven & the Disciples of Soul, circa 1985. Guitar driven soul stuff with a great horn line (featuring La Bamba).

Around here we've recently become addicted to listening to music at turntable.fm

You need a facebook account, at this point in time, to use it.

Point your browser to:

http://turntable.fm

I created a room if you want to listen and chat with other LTH people. Go here:

I'm on a Guided by Voices kick again. I recently discovered how wonderful it is to have a CD player in the car.

I'd be down for doing some turntable with you &/or other LTHers sometime. Nobody in the room when I checked this morning but I'll check back periodically. I dig turntable.fm, though it is a productivity killer for me sometimes.

In the meantime, I am listening to this gloriousness that I found awaiting me upon my return home from Toons Porkapalooza on Saturday:

ha! Shatner!

I'm in the room:

lthforum listen cook eat

I have about 15 songs in my queue and just leave them playing. I'm working so I'm not always there to text/IRC but if I see someone there I'll say hello.

Rip that Shatner CD and DJ with it on turntable.fm
