Eddie doesn't even ask you to wait for your food before you sit down. All you have to do is wait until after you've placed your order. There is no problem sitting down at a table while you wait for your order to be cooked. It's amazing to me that such a simple policy seems to hit the exact right equilibrium. No matter how busy it is at Edzo's (and it does get very busy), I don't think I've ever had to wait longer than a couple of minutes for a table to clear once I've placed my order. I've never had to wait so long that my food has come up before I found a place to sit...OK, maybe once, and I think that was on NU's graduation day, when every parent wanted to take their little genius out for a burger after the ceremony.

Same rule as hot doug's, but there's less time to poach a table before ordering because of the layout. Too bad for Eddie that he has room for ~40 to wait in line inside, instead of ~10.

So I noticed that the burgers and fries are quite cheap. Are they small? The single sounds kinda small. It probably wouldn't be too unhealthy for me then, right?

No. (But note that the fries come in two sizes.)

As you can see in the photo on the website, the menu tells how big the burgers are (it says "x OZ GRILLED BURGER and X OZ CHAR BURGER"). I forget exactly how big they are - maybe 4 or 6 ounces? - but in any case, I can assure you they aren't small. Of course, if you want, you can always buy a double or triple. But I've never felt the need to do so.

We're not talking White Castle sliders here!

I just sent the one email. I had to find out about the marshmallow shake, which I went to get today. It's not bad, but I'm not sure I really got the toasted marshmallow flavor. I'm probably just not used to their stuff. I should probably go back and order something else.

I feel terrible, I have to go to work shortly after the tofu tour! We keep missing each other!

The "grilled burger" ("smashed thin & crispy on the griddle") is 4 ounces. That's the one that appears on the menu as a single, double, or triple. The "char burger" ("thicker, juicier, tell us how you want it cooked") is 8 ounces.

Finally made it to Edzo's after having it on the radar for a couple of years. Not sure what took so long but man do I regret waiting.

Went in yesterday with my wife and three daughers. Had a double gridled burger, fries and a hot dog. We each had our own shake so we were able to sample the salted carmel, peanut butter, oreo, coffee and vanilla. The burger was the best I have had in a long long time. Perfect char, great flavor, great bun. The shakes were all good. I think what I enjoyed the most about the shakes was you could taste the flavor of each one but none were overpowering. Just a nice even balance.

Already planning the next trip back.

Edzo's was featured tonight on 'Check, Please'. So sometime soon I'll have to check-it-out.

Had our first visit to Edzo's on Thursday. All I can say is that the raves for the Nutella milkshake are well deserved. From the first sip to the drive home with what was left I must have said "Wow!" over a hundred times. The burgers and fries were great but I was overcome by the greatness of that Nutella milkshake. I will be back.

Just wanted to share my new favorite menu item at Edzo's - the Maxwell St. Polish. I had never had one and didn't know what to expect, but I'm eating my way through the menu at Edzo's and it was time to give this a try. Definitely my favorite hot dog item so far (I still have to try the chili dog though). Eddie said this is one of his favorite items on the menu and I can totally see why. Those little tendrils of

Had a nice visit to Edzos. Got an 8oz burger which was delicious, but i think i would avoid both the tomatoe and lettuce as they just seem to get in the way of the wonderful beefy flavor. Nuttella and banana shake was excellent with chunks of banana and I loved they give you the container to have a little extra shake.

Ordered the angry fries but they didn't seem very angry. I felt like it was mild giardinera which is more like upset fries in my book. I'm not sure if you have to specify your level of anger when ordering.

Overall a solid lunch and worth returning for the shakes alone.

Question. My midwife has instructed me to eat beef twice a week to combat borderline anemia, so I thought it would be a good excuse to visit Edzo's. (And Nutella is full of iron, too, right? Right?) Not being a huge fan of beef per se, I would usually order the thin griddle burger, but I suppose my condition means I should get one of the larger meat hunks. My question is, would my need to get it well-done hurt the flavor? I'd hate to ruin a perfectly fine piece of meat.

If well done is a requirement, I'd recommend a double griddle burger rather than the 1/2 lb. grilled burger. It's the same amount of meat, but griddling is better suited to well done, IMO.

Additional question! I know Eddie wants customers to place an order before grabbing a table. Somewhat along the same lines, would it be kosher for one person to get in line while the other looks for a parking space? I suppose it's a general etiquette question, really.

Eddie was a fantastic interview. Best part about shooting there, was Eddie REFUSED to leave his station at the register. We could only get him for minutes at a time before a huge line would form. Consummate professional in so many ways.

While I'm glad that Sammich King made the cut for On Demand's menu, would it kill Food Network to run it more than once a week? I don't think any of us would miss one of the 3,456 airings of ANY of Giada di Laurentiis's shows. Sheesh!

There's a write-up on Edzo's today in Spoon, Northwestern's student-run culinary magazine. How is it that, as many times as I've been to Edzo's, I had never heard of the PB&B before???

Everything terrific as always today, but the fresh strawberry shakes were really out of this world.
