LTH,
After reading Mike Gebert's spot on review of the Feast show at the Smart and picking up on a bit of chatter here and there from this community, it seems as though the exhibition may seem somewhat unapproachable to the uninitiated.
Well, some of you may know that I am an artist who makes work about food and I have one of those handy MFAs, so I'd like to offer my services to help decode and demystify the exhibition.
Join me on Saturday March 31st at 1 pm for a tour of the show. It should take about an hour and a half.
Perhaps afterwards we can grab Uncle John's and have a picnic if the weather permits or head to Pleasanthouse if the day is nippy or soggy.
Looking forward to it!
Eric

Sadly I'll be out of town that weekend, but if you do one before that I'm in. I really liked your Northwestern show last May, you and goatboy knocked it out of the park.

While March 31st is a little distant for a firm commitment, but I am very interested as well. I have been meaning to get down to the Smart, and now I have an excuse. It is on my calendar.

Hi,

Unless there is a super complex ingredient for the Iron Chef contest (I signed up there before I knew of this), I plan to attend.

I might not be able to eat afterwards, though I will be there for the main event.

Regards,

Hi All,
I'm trying to get a sense of interest in the tour now that my plan is less than a week away. I can see there are several other events planned for the 31st (fried chicken beats art any day).
So, how many of you are planning on joining me in Hyde Park on Saturday?
Thanks,
Eric

Jefe,

A family commitment has come up, so I'll have to miss your tour, unfortunately. Thanks for your offer!

Hi all,
I'll be waiting in the lobby of the museum at 1. You won't miss me, I'm 6' 3" and will wear a brightly colored t-shirt.
Looking forward to it,
Eric

HI,

I have everything squared away with Iron Chef's challenge ingredient: celery.

I won't stay afterwards for Uncle John's, because I do need to go home to fiddle with celery.

Regards,

Jefe,

Thank you again for your generousity in taking us around today. It was two hours delightfully spent listening to your narrative of this exhibit.

As promised, I am linking to posts by David Hammond related to La Cucina Futurista et al. I hope someone may offer a better picture of the excited pig.

Regards,
Cathy

Thanks to everyone who came out, it was nice to meet you all and spend an afternoon engaging in discourse about all things art and food!
Thanks for the links Cathy. Here is a link to the entirety of Gordon Matta-Clark's film about FOOD:

Hi,

I was very glad to have Jefe's information when I went to my second tour of the Feast exhibit today. Jefe's talk provided a lot of background and context for the additional information learned today.

It was very worthwhile to have attend both.

Regards,
