Fascinated, mesmerized, transfixed, the state of my musical world since I got my hands on the WSP "Wood Tour" show from 1/25/2012. 1st and second sets have been in steady & exclusive rotation in the cd player. I have the 1/24 show as well as NYE, but have yet to examine these thouroughly.

- 1st set Standouts: Bad ass "Ride Me High" as well as a really solid "Jack".

- 2nd set gets cooking 5 songs in with a superkind "Space Wrangler", "Don't be Denied"(n.young cover), "Airplane", "Ballad of John & Yoko"(beatles cover). This 30 minute+ mind & time bending segment hits heights I didnt think possible in an acoustic setting.

A retrospective of the late Etta James' work. The rumored illegitimate daughter of Minnesota Fats certainly put her own stamp on some R&B (or whatever label one cares to place on her style) classics. She could sing rings around the current crop of pop divas whose careers have more to do with good looks than singing ability.

"Etta James Rocks The House," is simply the best live recording I have ever heard of any genre, in terms of re-creating the immediacy of the performance as well as the intimacy of the venue. It makes me feel like I'm in the same smoky club as Etta, downing rye whisky libations as I worship at her feet. What an electric voice.

wishing it was Friday,

got my mind right, then popped in a few tunes off the first set of the 1/25/12 WSP "wood tour" show, & then switched to part of the magnificent 2nd set of the 10/28/11 WSP CHicago Theatre Show:

1/25/12: Ride me High > C. Brown, Stop Breakin' Down Blues, Jack
10/28/11: All Time Low > Papa's Home > Tie Your Shoes > Ride me High

I am amazed at how much easier it is to accumulate live music from bands that support such a thing nowdays, thanks to the internet. It took me forever to gather the 1,500 hours of live Grateful Dead shows back in the late 90's, nowdays I would easily have double that if I was interested.

I own a cat or perhaps she simply agrees to live with me. I found this podcast pretty interesting, I listened twice:

Queen of Cats Pam Johnson-Bennett
She's is the anointed Queen of Cats, my friend and certified cat behavior consultant Pam Johnson-Bennett. Spending an hour with Pam is like spending an entire lifetime with a cat (all nine of those lives). Pam is the most popular cat book author ever, including the newly revised, Think Like a Cat. That's exactly what Pam does, she thinks like cats. After her visit, all the mice our in studio dispersed.

(Tuesday, May 8) When eating, stay away from : fats, processed comestibles, calories---and dose up on vitamins, milk and protein. Or is it the other way around? The "experts" keep changing the game and ultimaterly, according to Harvey Levenstein, author of "Fear of Food," we worry far too much about what we eat.

also, DH, I wrote to the Dresden tourist board as part of my introduction to the German language in middle school before the Wall fell. I still have the cool package they sent me full of photographs and stickers and ephemera. I've visited Mainz, Frankfurt, and Ingleheim!, but have yet to make it to Dresden
