$.99 per apple. Has anyone tried these or have an opinion?

I think I'd have to lose a bet to try one of those. :D

The FAQs remind me a little too much of Almost Pizza

They soak perfectly good apples in artificially-flavored water until the chemicals infuse through the skin and into the flesh of the fruit.

I saw the process (as it pertained to Grāpples, the grape-flavored OG of the flavored-apple world) on one of those how-various-things-are-made shows (but not "How It's Made", they had a segment about grapples, but it was about something rather different.

I didn't see an ingredient statement on the website but they claim to use "100% natural, zero calorie flavorings," as opposed to artificial flavorings (and yes, they are 2 different things). Still, I think I'll pass.

Is this better than kids not eating fruit at all?

As an adult they might be interesting to taste just to see what they are like, although I would not buy one. I object to them to give to kids as they teach that fruits need to be adulterated to be good to eat. Its like cutting up apples and sprinkling sugar on them. I do not know what is wrong with a plain apple. And they are costly and probably infused with some kind of chemical flavoring.

I haven't tried these, but I've tried the Grapple. Meh. There's a video showing the Grapple process here.

I don't see anything particularly wrong with flavoring fruit, but I'd rather eat vodka-infused watermelon.

I found the Grapple to be just awful, and thought that the person who though adding a grape Nehi flavor to apples should be put in stocks and publicly flogged. It just seems like a product in search of a market. Maybe there are kids out there who find apple-flavor apples to be unpalatable, but the answer isn't to make them taste like candy.

And if you really need to flavor apples then this is the way to go:

I love Woodford Reserve.

I love apples.

To me, that looks like a win-win!

My thoughts exactly.

Although, I plan on trying it with Kirkland-brand bourbon first.

I don't get it. There was always flavor on the inside of an apple. If the outside tastes like nothing, how are you going to get kids to bite it? Is this the apple that cursed Adam & Eve?

I was in the local grocery store last night, and in a time of poor judgement, I bought two of the bubble gum flavored apples. I love bubble gum flavored stuff, and don't eat enough fruits and veggies, so I thought i'd try them. What a mistake. the fumes that came out of the bag just about knocked me on my keester. I figured that they were gas impregnated judging by the smell. I still decided to try it. Mistake! It's two hours later, and my orange juice tastes like bubble gum and ether. Earlier, my seasoned rice tasted like bubble gum and ether. Shouldn't have eaten the apple first. I don't care for them, not at all. Granted, my children are grown and out of the house, but if they were still here with me, these manipulated fruits would NEVER end up in their lunch. Just give me a nice, big, red REAL apple that hasn't been messed with. An apple should taste like an apple. I don't seek out grape flavored pizza, nor will i buy something like this again.

What disturbs me most about this post is the knowledge of what ether tastes like.
