Sheffield & Wellington is turning out to be quite the little restaurant row, with DMK, Fish Bar, and now ATK there...I also don't mind Panes sandwich shop, and Vaughan's Pub is a decent place for a pint.

Also if he offers delivery, I'm sure to be within range, which is a huge plus. All in all, I approve of this turn of events

Dear all my beloved customers and friends on LTH
As you may or may not know that I am no longer head chef at Tac Quick since last Sunday. I would love to send you this regard and say thank you so much for you best support while I was operating Tac Quick for over 9 years. It is the best time to move forward and start the new business and new life. The new restaurant will be still focusing on real authentic Thai food. And I promise to bring you more of an interesting and flavorful Thai in the year to come. The new restaurant name will be ATK (Andy Thai Kitchen) 946 W Wellington Ave will be opened this Sun Sep 9,2012 at 11am Hopefully I would still get the best support from all of you again. Looking forward to trying to ATK, though I can't say I'm glad given TAC is right around the corner from us. Hopefully someone has been groomed in the kitchen over the last few years to take over without missing a beat.

Pork neck is indeed on the ATK menu. It seems like they're offering everything that was on the TAC menu and more. All the food I tried was delicious of course. It was exciting to see some of the dishes going out to the other tables that I did not recognize and will have to try in the near future.

Perhaps a new thread would be appropriate for ATK?

In TAC Quick news, ordered delivery tonight and it was as good as ever. Definitely no drop-off in quality, at least tonight.

Yes, a new thread should be started for ATK. I ate there today on their inaugural day . Food was great. More info to follow in a new thread.

They told me I was their first customer on Sunday. I ordered the singapore noodles and the pork belly / ginger / green beans (forgot the full thai name of it). Both were fantastic and I'm glad the place opened up so close to home. Will be back to try more.

Does anyone have a menu/contact info and know whether they are delivering yet? I'd like to try it tonight, but can't seem to find any contact info aside from the address. Thanks!

Thank you so much everyone for your kind support. I'm working on the carry out menu now. Hopefully to get it done soon sometime next week. It is so hard to get started to the new location but I could say that you guys give me courage to do what I'm doing right now and seeing you guys happy makes me happy and want to continue what I do best. I'll try to do the best I could I promise! = )

Andy's Thai Kitchen is a place full of promise. Andy has managed to find yet another location that is located directly beneath an El stop (Wellington), so getting there by public transportation will be a breeze for those that don't drive.

So far, I've had only one meal there, but I can promise I'll be back. We started out wiith some old favorites

ATK Gaend Som Cha Om (Sour Curry with "Cha Om" leaf omelet, napa & papaya)

All three of these dishes were good and had the same flavor profile as when served at TAC, but they were also all a step or two below what I have come to expect when ordering these dishes. They just didn't seem to pop. Still, this was only their second day in business and it appeared from the length of time it took for our food to be delivered, that things are still being worked out in the kitchen. I'm sure that these dishes will reach their full potential in a short time.

A new dish that we ordered, was absolutely stellar and revealed the potential of this new restaurant. Andy has always had a way with Thai soups. TAC's Tom Kha is my favorite version in the city by a country mile. Rather then order that, we ordered Tom Sab with Seafood, which is a new dish to me.

The flavor profile of the Tom Sab was phenominal; lots of lime in a firery broth that brought sweat to my brow. The soup included fish balls, mussels, shrimp and squid along with onions, mushrooms and some vegital items that were not recognizable to me. I'll never visit ATK again without ordering this soup. It's that good.

The menu is deep and it will take many visits to fully explore its wonders. I wish Andy the best of luck with the new restaurant. I know I'll be back often!

Thanks for the report Steve. Of course, I know from my own experiences in just moving houses that it takes me considerable time to figure out my new appliances - stove, oven, etc. - and cook dishes the way I'm used to having them. In this case, add in new space, new appliances, new kitchen staff, new wait staff . . . I don't think it would be fair to expect Andy's best for several weeks, but it's good to know that they're already putting out a quality product. That part doesn't surprise me.

It needs to be placed in context. In our instant gratification world, with people photographing and critiquing from their dinner tables mid meal, it's best to understand that NO ONE is up to 100% in the first few wks. NEVER. EVER. Personally, I've always felt you should discount the first month or so as you aren't operating @ that level, but you are asking people to pay. Trying talking an owner into that one.

Like I said It is so hard to start the new business in this economy but one thing i know is that I would do my best to make you happy. I'm so sorry about the wait today I would say the same thing if I were you Stevez.

I'd be down for this. I don't have any sour beers on hand, but I do have a 4-pack of Uncommon Brewers' Siamese Twin ("a traditional Belgian-style Double seasoned with coriander and entirely uncommon Thai spices...floral notes of lemongrass and sharper bite of kaffir lime") that I was saving for the next time we ordered from TAC Quick, but passing it around at ATK seems entirely appropriate.

Stellar, every bit and more as delicious as Steve describes. One lesson learned from my first go-around with Tom Sab, eat the seafood immediately so they don't overcook in the simmering liquid.

90% full on Sunday about 8:30, TAC favorites as good if not better than Sheridan, in particular raw shrimp with garlic, mint leaf, Thai chili and lime. Two, but we ordered for 4 and even that did not scratch the surface of dishes I'd like to try.

Service flowed well, dishes attractively plated, physical space comfortable with obvious thought taken to design. Andy himself looked terrific, calm, unruffled, impossibly clean and tidy for a man working all day in a kitchen. A short conversation with Andy reminded me why the man turns out the food he does, his attention to detail is astounding and perfection his goal.

ATK, count me a fan!
