Despite my (literally) last minute change of plans for last month's LTHNLG outing and (I thought) praise from the minions, they are still grumbling. Geez. Apparently I'm still functioning on a month-to-month basis.

Esteemed LTHNLG member JoelF recently spotted the Glenview outpost of this Korean mini empire. There are other branches on the east coast. You can read about it here -

Always up for Korean, if only to compare the banchan.

Interesting menu to say the least, only soondubu jjigae, bibim bop, BBQ and appetizers, nothing else. You pick your ingredients, heat level and noodles or rice. I like that.

Looking forward to it, if only to reassure EC that despite the minion mutterings, the emperor still--thankfully--has clothes on.

Being no fan of tofu (not opposed, just don't seek it out), I'm not normally up for lunch at a place that specializes in tofu stew, but thanks to the Korean side of my family, I am intrigued by the bibimbap, bulgogi, and short rib options. Is So Gong Dong BYOB? I searched online but couldn't find an answer.

Considering that I can almost walk to this one, how can I miss it?
Hmm... taking my bike to lunch might be a way to work off some of that massive bi bim bap.

When one minion starts ordering another minion around that could be the first indication of a play for power.

I just noticed my name was not on the list. I see my earlier post was not clear about whether I was planning to go, but I am. See you all soon.

Yes, Katie, you did show, and we were dang happy about it. Great choice, Joel. Really solid fare all around, in the suburban Little Korea area around Lake & Milwaukee. Amazing how many Korean restaurants and businesses have sprouted up in this vicinity.

I'd extend that Little Korea range to Golf. There's an awful lot of Korean restaurants, salons, etc. in the Golf Mill area, with a few others peppered along Milwaukee between. It peters out from there (San Soo Gab San a half mile east, a couple more restaurants a half mile west at Golf Glen, but don't leave out Assi Plaza a half-mile south). I haven't found a solid connecting path to Super H-Mart in Niles, though.
