    Hi,

I could not find them where they should be also. I finally learned they were at a cardboard display between the deli and fresh meat section.

When I said the secret word, it was rejected. Finally, they advised the word was 'bites.' Just for completeness, I said, "Granola bites."

These granola bites reminded me of a truffle or a bourbon ball. The center was the almond butter, dipped in chocolate and rolled in granola and coconut. I could buy these again or attempt to make them myself.

Thanks for passing along the information.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

    Jewelry-Tomfoolery!
Their Facebook page says the word is "Granola." That's the word I used, and I was not refused.
The dystopian elements of this marketing campaign have endless mutations.

No Saturday Sampler that I'm aware of. :(

WOD supposedly coming Monday the 18th is a box of Oat Crunch Cinnamon Cheerios.

That should be pretty easy to find at the cereal aisle and the WOD allegedly is going to be "Cheerios". Sounds way too simple, doesn't it?

The cheese cup didn't come off and the cashier had to take it off manually. You can find the product in the deli case not the regular cheese section. Didn't look for the Body Armor as Jewel was a madhouse at 8 AM.

That was not the case at the Edgewater Jewel. The manager told the clerk who was helping me that it was mint chocolate chip only.

They did not specify which cheese cup. I tried to get the feta crumbles and was told the free item was only the shredded parmesan. The Body Armor was stacked at the corner of the customer service desk at my Jewel.

Neither item came off for me at the register at Wilmette. I took the four-cheese-blend cup to customer service and it was given a refund with no questions.

    Hi,

The drink passed MyMixx muster with no issue.

The cheese didn't. The young cashier inquired if I had clicked for the coupon. I affirmed it was done. She didn't want to believe me, she probably guessed I was clueless. I then advised if she would not give me credit for the cheese, I was going next to the manager. Voila, fixed!

I wasn't really threatening, but I wasn't going to put up my having technical ignorance.

Did you ask the clerks? At the Highland Park Jewel, they occasionally move it to another end cap.

At Jewel in Wheaton, they have two locations: one at an end cap and another near the bathrooms.

One of my favorite finds was a seasoning packet to add to black beans to make black bean hummus. I bought one for 25 cents, then immediately made it. It was so good, I bought another six packets. Since it is likely discontinued forever, I need to pay attention to what's in it to duplicate it myself. At 25 cents, it was worth it.

Yep,clearance is over. I believe the most they can mark anything down now is 50%. Whatever they can't sell gets donated. Meat can still be clearanced.

Hi- I posted this very question about what happened to the clearance section at Jewel over at mashupmom's Facebook page a few weeks ago. There is somebody who posts there who I believe knows somebody who works in management in Jewel. Barb suspects that it has something to do with the computer upgrade that the stores did recently. The store managers used to have a say in how much the stuff was marked down. The Chicago Avenue store in Evanston, would frequently have stuff 75% off, where as the Wilmette Green Bay store rarely went lower than 50% off.

I have recently run across semi decent clearance sales at both the Plaza Del Lago Jewel in WIlmette and the Chicago Avenue store. I bought four Marie Callender D'Lights frozen dinners a few weeks ago for $.79 a piece. I cleaned them out. They also had lots of canned beans for $.75 including organic, but I don't need any canned beans. At the Chicago Avenue store they had Tabernick frozen soup which I love reduced to $.99. I love their chicken noddle and dumpling soup. I cleaned them out there too of the chicken soup. That store also had a bunch of canned goods and other nonperishable also on clearance, but they had Swiss Miss cocoa marked down to $1.97. If it was $1, I would have bought it. I have not seen any clearance deals at the Green Bay Wilmette store lately. I am driving right by the Plaza Del Lago store this afternoon. I will try to run in there and see if there are any more bargains. Hope this helps, Nancy

I had to go to Northbrook this afternoon, and so I stopped at both the Mariano's in Northbrook and the Jewel at Plaza Del Lago. They were both crazy busy, and then I got tied up driving down Sheridan Road in Wilmette, because people were going to the fireworks.

Mariano's I discovered when I was in the store last week has a clearance section in aisle 4, which is the seasonal aisle. I got two jars of spaghetti sauce for $.99 each on clearance. You have to make sure they scan the clearance sticker though, which the cashier did not. They still had lots of pasta sauce on clearance and some cereal too.

When I went to the Jewel at Plaza Del Lago, I did not see any clearance nonperishable stuff like I did two weeks ago, but I did see lots of frozen clearance, some of which was a good deal, and some of it was not. A lot of the clearance stuff was unhealthy, and so I passed. They did have some frozen ocean perch reduced to $2.99, but I have fish in my freezer I need to use up.

Jewel did have some strawberry cherries on sale that I had never seen before. They had samples out, and they were good. I ended up buying a pound box of them. They were $2.49 for a box. Hope this helps, Nancy

I got the shredded Parmesan cheese at Jewel on Saturday, and I did not have any problems with it coming off. Maybe that was the only one that was free. I opened it up last night, and it was not the best Parmesan I have ever had in my life, but it was free.

Did anybody else purchase the $.99 blueberries at Jewel this last week? They had Michigan blueberries at the farmer's market on Saturday, but because it was the first week, I knew that they would not be great, and they would be a whole lot more than $.99. I bought two pints of blueberries from North Carolina at the Chicago Ave. Jewel, and they were definitely sub par, and I don't think I am getting any more there until they get Michigan blueberries in a few weeks, and only if they have a sale I can't pass up. The blueberries at the farmer's market should be better this Saturday at Evanston, and so I will get my blueberries there.

Mariano's has blueberries on sale right now for $.98 a pint. Over at mashupmom, I encouraged people to spend the extra money and get their blueberries at the farmer's market, where they would be much better. Some body just replied that she got some blueberries at Jewel in Mundelein last week that were awesome. Did anybody else get decent blueberries at Jewel last week? The Chicago Ave. store in Evanston does not have the best produce section. Thanks, Nancy

I was at the Jewel in Skokie on Skokie Blvd. late last night, and the only clearance I saw was a section in the back of the store that was not worth it. I don't go in that store very often though, so there might have been some frozen clearance that I missed. While I was waiting in line to check out, the couple in front of me was getting the mymixx freebee, and it was not coming off. The cashier had to ask for the number to enter for it. The store had both black sweet cherries and rainer cherries for $1.88. I got some of the rainer cherries and they were good. They also had one pound bags of baby carrots for $.99.

I got some enlightened ice cream for free over a month ago, and it sat in my frzzer for two weeks before I tried it. It was ok. I would not buy it myself, but for free it was ok. People that are into low carb are the ones that are buying these low sugar ice creams. Because it has less calories, people think they can eat more of it too.

I was in Jewel last night, and bought a container of Edy's, which was on sale for $2.48, and I saw another customer put 7 cartons of Edy's in his cart. I hope for his sake they did not have a limit on how many you could buy for that price.

    That's a standard I can live with.

The other day, I finally opened Vietti fire roasted vegetable chili with beans and marsala wine. It was pretty good. I could have walked past their display and never considered buying it. Impressed by my free sample, I may buy some for a quick meal.
