The 82nd Dessert Exchange April 14th- 4 pm

how about the next dessert exchange 14th at my place in logan square? the usual rules apply: bring 1 dessert, plus containers for taking home your share of others' desserts. i'll make supper (can't guarantee it'll be light) and we'll all have fun. (my place is not a cat free zone, but they can hang out in a bedroom during our dinner). i can host 10 people.

well, i've heard from cathy and pairs4life that the 7th doesn't work. how about the 14th (celebrate the end of taxes?) since we missed february and are about to skip through march, i'd like to do it early in april, if possible. the next few responses will, i think, determine which date works....

I will be out of the country April 7. I should be able to come the 14th. It is Palm Sunday if that matters.

hey everyone, just bumping the thread to remind you all that we've got a great dessert exchange coming up this sunday at 4. there's still room for another person, or 2, so think about it. i'll PM my address to everyone now, and my phone # if you have any questions.

I think I'm going to make something from the website A Brown Table. The blogger's new cookbook, Seasons, looks great. Also, I randomly had a dream last night that I had coincidentally planned to make something similar to Sue and she got *incredibly* mad at me

i'm planning to make the gateau basque served at the bristol. amanda rockman's recipe gets a lot of love- i've never had it, but i love gateau basque and have never made one before... i'm also making sorghum ice cream to share/spread my love of sorghum syrup: it's soooo delicious- caramel and burnt sugar flavors. for our light supper i'm making a farro salad with vegetables. until sunday....

Looking forward to today! I’ll be coming from errands in Evanston so may be a little late. I’m bringing a mishmash version of Matzo Apple kugel— my first time.

just so you know, i am NOT cancelling the dessert exchange. if even one person shows up, i'm calling it a party! and so far, no one has cancelled, but you have my total understanding if anyone decides to stay home because of the weather. by an unfortunate coincidence, everyone coming is coming from outside chicago. i'm a weather wimp myself, so it will not be held against you if staying home is what you want to do...but i'm here, with 2 desserts and a failed, but edible, science experiment. at this time, the air is white, but the roads are clean and visible, with no sticking snow.

Thanks to justjoan for having such a lovely warm and bright space for us on a snowy day.

As usual, I eat a lot of her meal and offerings and then dessert feels like punishment.

But I pushed through the massive quantities of fantastic last course offerings!

I don't think we set up the next exchange when we were at Joan's last. I'm happy to host in June if no one else wants to, though our weekends are limited. I'd love to see everyone because Spencer has some news...

awesome pic, laura. please host in june and pick the sunday of your choosing. (hopefully not the 16th- the only sunday i couldn't make it.)..then i can juggle my sunday volunteer schedule so i can attend the dessert exchange.... thanks!

and btw, i'm hoping sueF will post the pics from our last exchange- it was a good bunch of desserts, and kalamazoogal's lemon curd cake definitely is food porn-worthy...
