I'm very eager to eat at Otom, and, I'm thinking, as usual, the bigger the group, the better, for menu items to try. Anyone interested in a group dinner in the next week or two? (so that we have enough time to gather people) I generally can't do Thursdays. Some dates I was looking at were Fri, Aug 3 or Wed, Aug 8. I can come up with other possible dates if necessary.

Can you give me a general sense of dates that would be good? My schedule is pretty flexible.

With the steady increase in interest for this dinner, I figured I should give Otom a call and verify that they could accommodate a group our size on August 22. The woman I spoke to this afternoon was very nice. She said that I had called at an opportune time since she has a meeting today with the general managers to discuss large parties. I'll get an answer from her tomorrow, but it sounds like we should be fine with this much notice. I estimated 20 people. That said, if you're interested in the dinner and haven't already, please let me know so that I can firm up the number. There'll probably be changes with three weeks to go, but that's fine--I just want to get a better estimate. Thanks! Sharon

    HI,

I met the general manager a few weeks before Otom opened. He was aware LTHforum was interested in doing an event. All they wanted was some breathing time before any large group showed up. I hope you named dropped LTHforum, because it might grease the wheels of progress. I don't normally recommend this, but they were already talking to Josephine. So they are very aware who we are.

I am considering going, so pencil me in, though I can confirm as we approach the actual date. I am working on some projects that conclude around that time.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

    Hi Cathy,

Thanks for the tip. I actually thought about name dropping, but I wasn't sure whether that was done or not, so I just described us as "enthusiastic Moto people." I'll mention LTH when the woman calls me back.

Any idea of a budget for this meal? I'm interested but only to a certain price point :) Not sure what that price point is but I'll know it when I see it.

    Hi all,

Just an update. I just spoke with Kathryn at Otom again to follow up on our dinner reservation. She's still waiting on the chef for an answer about large groups. She expects an answer any day. I hate to leave you all hanging, but I'm optimistic. I'll post a confirmation as soon as I get one.

As for price point, I welcome others to chime in given my weak estimation skills. My guess, at about $20/entree on the regular menu, with a group of 20, we'd definitely order fewer than 20 dishes (and still probably have food left over!). I'd say figure $20 without tip or beverages. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't count on $20. Make it more like $50 with appetizers, dessert, etc.

    Hi Sharon,

My choice would be to go with the $45 package of Appetizer, Main Course and Dessert.

I'm assuming we do not have to make specific selections until the actual day.
