Walking the dog this a.m., passed by the space at Belmont and Lakewood (northeast corner) that was most recently Pescadero and before that Fahlstroms and there's a sign in the window advertising Avaspi - Anatolian Tapas as coming soon.

Found an article from November that this is from the owner of Gundis Kurdish Kitchen and was expected to open in January. Based on the state of the interior, I'd say it's at least a month off.

Goosefoot is currently closed and is maybe on the way out of Chicago.
The Chicago Sun-Times wrote:The owners of the Michelin Guide-listed restaurant Goosefoot in Lincoln Square announced Wednesday they plan to relocate the restaurant, to be closer to family.

They're also looking to open up again (possibly a slightly different concept) in an area like Lincoln Park or Logan Square etc.

A local meal prep and delivery business has expanded and opened a cafe in Edgewater, where people can taste test its menu.

All Meal Prep opened its first physical location at 1100 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. in early January, allowing the food delivery business to expand into brick-and-mortar and try its hand as an old school restaurant.

We used to go to Le Petit Paris fairly frequently, but for some reason it fell out of our rotation. Last time we were there the spark just wasn't there. The wine list was very limited and Alain was the only person working the front of the house from the bar to waiting tables, running the dishes and clearing tables. We had talked about going back next month but alas, they closed on January 1. Le Petit Paris 260 East Chestnut

    From Opentable:
As of January 1, 2024, Le Petit Paris will be closing their doors for good. Head Chef and Owner Alain Sitbon would like to thank you all for allowing him to serve the Streeterville locals for the past 20+ years. It truly has been his honor to create so many wonderful and life-long memories both for and with you. May you all have a happy and blessed 2024 and beyond.

    Au Revoir,
    Alain

ShopNSave to open soon in the shuttered Whole Foods at 1331 N Rand Rd in Palatine. Hoping it will continue their trend of big hot bar, big Polish bakery, lots of relatively cheap cheese and sausages. That's just west of Rt 53.

Further northwest on Rand is a Butera that used to be a Joe Caputos, an interesting mashup of a rather junky produce mart with a much nicer deli. Also in the neighborhood is EuroFresh Market.

ShopNSave stores have unique personalities related to the customer base in the area. The store on Archer does feature a lot of Polish. I have been to others that were distinctly middle eastern or Russian. It will be interesting to see what customer base they are attracting at the Palatine store.

Speaking of La Grande Boucherie, there's 2 new restaurants opening up across the street in the former Sullivan's space at Dearborn & Hubbard. Sullivan's closed in June 2018.

    1) Blue Sushi Sake Grill - there's 1 in Lincoln Park and 1 in Naperville already. Others across the US.

    2) Ghost Donkey - a Mexican restaurant and Mezcal/Tequila Bar. They started in NYC (location is closed) and have locations at the Cosmpolitan Hotel in Las Vegas, Denver, Auckland (NZ), and Melbourne (AU). Will be on the 2nd floor.
