I've read a bit online about this place but couldn't find an answer to this question: Is the name a reference to the main character in the movie Pig?
=R=
It's a reference to his family history:
"The restaurant is named after the German word for field and as an homage to his mother’s family, the Rosenfelds, who once ran a dairy farm in Waco, Texas."

EP Market is taking over the space at 6783 N. Northwest Highway, which has sat empty for almost two years. The family-owned market will include a cafe, bakery and taqueria, co-owner Eduardo Haro said. The store will offer a wide- range of groceries and prepared foods that “really cater to the neighborhood,” said Chris Vittorio, chief of staff for Ald. Anthony Napolitano (41st).

When it comes to bagels, what’s not to like? And yet, Lefty’s provides us with the capacity to love. It’s early days for Brad Nadborne (aka “Lefty”) and his team of intrepid bakers, but if today’s soft opening is any indication, these bagels do not disappoint. This is a Montreal-style bagel, meaning it’s been hand-rolled, kettle-boiled, then baked… but in a notoriously fussy wood-burning oven. It can be hard to get the bake just right, but when you do— as Lefty’s surely does — then it’s just the right ratio of crust to chew.

The positive article is a welcome development. I had posted the website (still works, same as in the article) and info on the 19th based on their Google maps page, but for whatever reason the info was taken down recently. A girl had even posted appetizing photos of their dumplings and they were taken down too. Can't wait to get over there.Dave148 wrote:More here = https://evanstonroundtable.com/2024/07/ ... ing-house/bweiny wrote:Coming soon sign up in the window. An Outback Steakhouse restaurant on Chicago’s Far Northwest Side is relocating to Des Plaines.
