Having been told of Il Milanese by a chef buddy https://www.lthforum.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=47315 we've been rewarded with numerous wonderful meals. They've caught on since and are still burning brightly (making it a hard reservation @ the spur of the moment) in spite of the chef leaving.

Where'd he go? Il Girasole Trattoria. It's pretty much the same menu done just as well and a most excellent meal all around. Too many tables were available on a Friday pm when it should have been packed. In all, a worthy alternative if you like Il Milanese.
The ragu (really any of the pastas), stuffed zucchini blossoms, branzino, favas w/pecorino... All top notch and impressive to my pickiest of cousins.

Cool. I remember reading about this a few months ago (press release?). Is this the former Owen & Engine space?

Yes, same space. Couldn't remember the name. Thanks.

Went the other night and was impressed. Pastas were great and my only disappointment was that I barely scratched the surface on ordering. On most menus I can strike about half the selections pretty quickly but there were only two or three options that didn't immediately jump out and everything on the specials menu looked great as well.

I can't help but pout @ some of Mrs Jazzfood's menu picks. I try not to say anything but she can tell by my lip protruding and the angle of my head how I feel about what she ordered (which we generally share). Twice w/this chef and in particular his pastas, I've assumed the position and twice I've been wrong and loved every bite. On my own I'd never order Ragu or Rigatoni Con Salsiccia w/house made sausage w/tomato cream sauce, & peas.

But she does and I stand corrected. They're great and find myself thinking of them often.
