Lunch at the newly reopened Larsa's:
Lentil soup: Same as ever, which is to say great. Probably their signature item for me. Comes with the same divisive flatbread as before (I like it, fight me), provocatively served in a tortilla basket.
Laham bi ajeen: The dough is different! Puffier. However, the topping is much more flavorful so some might even prefer this version. Worth ordering, I think.
Torshi: Also different, much more pickled. A definite improvement.
The various meats were fine -- mains were never the strong suit here. Maybe the chicken was not as juicy as before; the (beef) shawarma had good flavor and wasn't dry but would be much better if this place got more business. Big downgrade on the rice: not the buttery basmati of days past, just some steamed white rice. Boo.
Haven't tried my usual favorites (catfish, Kubba Mosul) yet. I really want this place to succeed.
