The brand-new nuggets will also be made with many of the same recipe techniques and ingredients as Popeyes’ wildly popular chicken sandwich.

I didn't realize that the chicken sandwich had 'ingredients' other than chicken.

    My bad.

    ^^^

I have NEVER seen a fried chicken sandwich that did not have ingredients in addition to the chicken filet.

Mine certainly do - buttermilk, flour, hot sauce, salt, pepper, eggs, etc.

I tried the new nuggets (which are mild). They were ok (Chick-Fil-A reigns supreme in the nugget dept). Not likely to order ever again. When I go to Popeye's, I want spicy chicken on the bone with skin and biscuits. Not the sandwich or the nuggets.

I tried the chicken sandwich at the new Korean chicken restaurant in Morton Grove, K-Coop. It has potential.

It was 2 thigh pieces that were nicely breaded on a potato bun served with lettuce, pickle and your choice of 8 sauces. Crunchy exterior with a juicy interior on a reasonably good bun. The hang-up for me was the sauce. I tried the creamy onion sauce. It had good flavor, but was way to sweet. I am concerned that all the sauces will be to sweet.

I think that I have had my best chicken sandwich yet at The Noble Chicken at Jungle Jim's Eastgate outside of Cincinnati.

They have seven different fried chicken sandwickes. I opted for the spciest, the IMPRL.

Fried chicken, habanero-ghost cheese, shredded lettuce, pickles, pico de gallo, avocado, mayo on a brioche bun.

The fried chicken was two breast patties lightly breaded. The cheese was a sice that was at least 1/4 inch thick and between 2-3 ounces. It was definitely the cheese that added all of the heat. This was a very hot sandwich that probably would NOT hit you for several hours.

At $8.95, it was a pretty good deal.

The deal becomes untenable when you include transportation costs.

There are many people on this board who travel and quite a few of them stop at Jungle Jims when they are in Cincinnati as it probably has the largest selection of grocery items in the Midwest under one roof.

I think it was an attempt at humor.

The spicy chicken wars continue: Arby's Diablo Dare Chicken Sandwich (there's a brisket variety too) is a limited-time special (Jan 10 to Feb 6). I finally got out of the house to try it, and I'm underwhelmed.

Don't get me wrong, it's spicy -- spicier than any chain item other than Fry the Coop (a notch under their "Hot" level). That's including fire-roasted jalapenos, spicy bbq sauce, ghost pepper cheese, hot seasoning (dusted) and a chipotle bun. It smelled spicy opening the box. Most of the flavor, though, comes from that spicy bbq sauce which drenches the sandwich, and it's mostly acrid hot-sauce flavors. A better balance of flavor to the sauce (and perhaps not as drippy -- blend it with the tiny dollop of mayo maybe?) and I'd consider this more of a winner. The other down side is a rather un-crispy chicken patty, which reminded me of school cafeteria chicken sandwiches (although it did have a decent poultry-broth flavor to it). Popeye's overly-battered chicken breast beats that hands down, as does the KFC, FtC and others. The rest of the components don't add much to the mix: the cheese was not noticeable; the roasted jalapenos (along with the pickles and shredded lettuce) add some good color but no noticeable heat (those jalas are diced and fall out; I tasted a couple by themselves, and they might as well be bell peppers).

The current promotion includes a small (8-10oz) vanilla milkshake to tone down the heat -- they would not let me substitute for a chocolate one.

Didn't hate it, but I won't go out of my way for it, and will probably go back to the Beef and Cheddar if I happen on an Arby's again.

Got a hot tip sitting at the counter of Yellow Rose this morning. North Branch Fried Chicken. Guy used the words crispy and juicy about a dozen times. Going to check it out soon. (High hopes, low expectations)

Popeye's has a new sandwich called 'blackened sandwich'.

It is a non-breaded spice coated chicken sandwich.

My recommendation: Don't waste stomach space.
