I agree. Very uncomfortable.

I believe they've done some remodeling, so maybe they're gone, but I nominate Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings in Chinatown. The combination of tiny chairs and very low tables that make it impossible for many people to get their legs under the table make for a most unpleasant dining experience.

So glad this thread got resurrected- this article has been on my mind since I read it, but didn't feel worth starting a new thread, and I didn't think to see if there was already a thread to complain about chairs.

I've seen these torture devices in many places, but the one that sticks out to me is Pho An, the Vietnamese restaurant that used to be in downtown Arlington Heights- it closed last year and I'd believe these chairs were part of their downfall. For anyone wider than a size 10, I'd imagine, these chairs are awful. They dig into your hips/butt, force you to sit forward with no back support.

It's been some years since I was there, but Margie's on Montrose has very small chairs to perch on.

And don't even get me started on high tops.....

High tops? I am quite unhappy when that is all there is. Ackward to say the least, especially when the former occupants often leave their plates and garbage there. Of course, we can blame the waitstaff for not keeping up, though I know they are busy putting out lots of fires, too. It rarely is a good fit for me.

I am sure the caterer highlights how many more people can fit in this space, if you skip tables and chairs. Yay! Oh please turn up the music to loud for that party atmosphere.

I don't linger long when that is the set up.
