From the photo at the top, this looks like counter service... the website shows dark wood tables... is it sit-down-table-service or not? Perhaps the Logan Square one is what I'm seeing? Is one better than the other?

The Armitage location has a few counter seats, I think, but the majority is table seating.

Just to bump this thread, I stopped by the original location a week or so ago and ordered a lechon sandwich with rice and beans (and took advantage of the offered salsa) plus a guava shake. The shake--not so much. The sandwich, terrific (you can see some plantain chips that came with it). The salsa, unusual and addictive. Wonderful deep, almost chocolate-y, flavor, lotsa heat. Pardon the phone pix.

All in all, a very good visit and I look forward to returning and trying out more of the items on the menu.

The Armitage location seems to have gone a bit upscale. (perhaps this was noted earlier and I missed it?) The plates seem nicer and the servings seem smaller. The glasses they use are still jars though.

A local couple who turned a passion for Cuban cuisine into a successful business venture is extending their chain of Chicago-based restaurants to Lincolnwood this fall when they open a new location in Lincolnwood Town Center.

Alberto and Christina Gonzalez plan to open “90 Miles Cuban Café” this November in the former mall space once occupied by Ruby Tuesday before it closed two years ago.

We had one lunch at the Lincolnwood location and have eaten at the other two locations. The Lincolnwood location has a much larger and nicer dining area as well as a liquor license. Food was comparable in quality but with higher prices IIRC. We did not take any notes but feel it is by far the best bet in the Lincolnwood Town Center and plan to return when we need a meal there.

The web site is an incomplete mess but the dinner menu is available here.

Thanks. We did go Saturday prior to a shiva in the area. We enjoyed it a lot! The roast pork with prunes was delicious, potent drink, delightful service. Owner was there and he was pleasant when I stopped over to say hello. I'd go back.

ekreider, how would you rate the noise level? I ask because while we loved the food we had at dinner at the Armitage Ave. location a couple years ago, the noise was deafening. Impossible to hear people at your own table unless they screamed, impossible for them to hear you unless you screamed. With Lincolnwood, is part of being "larger and nicer" also "a sane noise level"?

Cuban music was fairly loud at lunch. The place wasn't too full and probably not too liquored up, so patron noise was not a factor. We could converse without trouble unlike a lot of other restaurants.

Things may be different at dinner.

Stopped by Roscoe Village location (3101 N Clybourn Ave) last night for a couple of sandwiches post theater dinner. I had the Cubano, Mrs the Media Noche. Both were tasty sandwiches, not great, about what we were expecting. Only counter seating at this location, approx 9-10 stools, easy dine-in seating on a Sunday evening about 6pm, most were getting orders to go.
I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.

Hi- I went to the Lincolnwood location a few months ago when my sister was in town for a few days. We were looking for computers. My computer died on me the day before she showed up, and one of the places we went to was the Skokie Walmart store. I had never been to 90 Miles to Cuba before, but I knew they had Flamingo dancing on Thursday, and it was 8:30, and so some restaurants were not open. The Flamingo dancers were good, but the service was awful, and we are not going back. I had a chicken sandwich sandwich with fries which was okay, but not great, and I did not take home my leftovers. My Sister had some roast beef that was pounded really thin, and was the consistency of tissue. I tried some of hers and it was really tough. It took us 30 minutes to get our food, and somebody other than the waitress brought it. By the time we finished our dinner, the dancers were dine, and they were playing Cuban music which was too loud for us. The waitress never came to our table to see how we were doing, and finally after waiting 30 minutes for the check, my Sister stopped another waitress that passed our table, and asked if she could ask our waitress to bring our check which she finally did. The majority of the customers there were there strictly to drink.
