After a brisk outing with our pup at the Prairie Wolf Dog Park in Lake Forest, the Wheeling location of Superdawg seemed like a good lunch spot. Whoopskidawg for me, Whoopercheesie for Mr. X, shared chocolate malt. (The pup got a few extra treats for his patience.) No complaints from us regarding the food. I really liked the flavor and texture of the Whoopskidawg. Might ask for raw onion in addition to the grilled for some extra crunch.

If you sign up for their e-club, you get a free "super sandwich"/soft drink for your birthday and a free "fountain thing" for your anniversary. Super sandwich includes the Whoopskidawg and fountain thing includes the malt. It's nice that it's valid for the occasion month and the following month. http://superdawg.fbmta.com/members/UpdateProfile.aspx?Action=Subscribe

Are they adding on to the original location on Milwaukee at Devon and Nagle?

The gas station next door to the north is demolished and there's a new building going up in very, very close proximity to their neighbor. It appears that the superstructures may well be joined. Anyone got the scoop?

Per the Nextdoor neighborhood app, it’s going to be another gas station. Superdawg took a pass when the land went up for sale. There have been many comments regarding how close the 2 buildings are.

The new gas station appears to be opening soon.

Took advantage of a halfway decent day for outside dining and had lunch today with my sisters. My Whoopskidawg hit the spot along with the rare sibling get-together. :D

One of the highlights of the opening of the Skokie Greenhouse Dispensary opening day was they were handing out free SuperDawgs.

I thought that was brilliant cross-marketing.

Can we get similar "behind the scenes" segments for Smak Tak and Yellow Rose Cafe to complete the Elston/Milwaukee triple-play?

    Duly mesmerized. Good pull, Gary.

That first hot dog arranger really has some technique with the relish and onion spoon. Not sure how he keeps the mustard from getting all over the spoon, and contaminating the relish/onion vats. Maybe it doesn’t matter. Either way I’m ready for a hot dog and double cheeseburger, in no particular order.

I was fighting back the strong urge to go to Superdawg and then the fry dipped in the shake at around the 14-minute mark completely obliterated it. Talk about an anti-money shot. Total appetite destroyer. But it was really nice until that point. Fun video. :)

At least only one person ordered catsup on their hotdog. Are their fries good?

don't knock it till you try it, ronnie. when i was in grade school at lunch we were often given a slice off a brick of vanilla ice cream (with the wrapper still on it), and i clearly remember dipping my french fries in the ice cream. hot, cold, salty and sweet- a winner combination! i expect it'd be even easier to dip a fry into a milk shake....and just as delicious.

Oh, I've tried it. It's kind of a thing, right? Just not for me.

This is a total hijack, but that triggered a memory of Walgreen's ice cream bricks when I was a kid. They had pretty exotic flavors by grocery store standards and had these (pint?/half pint?) bricks that were pretty inexpensive. My parents would always let me get a few when we stopped in.

I am sorry, but I still believe that peoples' reviews of Superdawg are tainted by the atmosphere of the venue, and that everybody else seems to love it.
Going back to the late 2000s; I drove myself and dad [R.I.P.] there from a medical center appointment at Resurrection on W. Talcott Rd.
Neither he nor myself thought the hotdog was anything special.
That the stand wouldn't tell you where the meat was encased to make you think it was somewhere exotic.
It played so closely to the old-time “exploitation” movie marketers scheme {a-la David F. Friedman} that I felt (and wrote in my Yelp review) it was selling the sizzle and not the steak [its food].
