I wonder how much of Culver's appeal is from their custard on this survey? That being said I think overall their menu is better than most fast food chains. I think Steak N Shake needs a reboot and ditch the servers. Go the route Culver's and Freddy's have which seems to be far more popular. Portillo's was named number one fast food in the country in another poll.JoelF wrote:In a timely announcement, Yahoo! has released satisfaction statistics on burger chains. In & Out is on top, with 5 Guys and Culver's close behind.
Tier 2 appears to be Whataburger, Smash Burger, Steak & Shake, DQ and Sonic, with all the major chains at the bottom.

Northbrook banned drive-thrus since day one but finally have started allowing them (McDonald's on Skokie Blvd, Dunkin', etc.).JoelF wrote:Ram4 wrote:Culver's will be opening a new store in Northbrook at the SW corner of Dundee and Sanders by mid-2020.
My childhood stomping grounds - for years there was a McD's there (an unusual, in-strip-mall space), now a pancake house.

It's going to be interesting to see how a Culver's survives in a lower density urban area without a drive-thru or lots of parking (unless it has those things, but it's not obvious).

Right now I probably eat it once a month...and it's a special treat. Not sure if that proximity might take the shine off.

I understand exactly how you feel. Steak n Shake used to be a favorite stop for us on road trips. Then, about 15 or more years ago, they opened one literally less than a minute from our house. I think I've been there five times since, and never stop at one on the road anymore.
We always want what we can't have, and lose interest once it's readily available.

Maybe that's the case, but the S&S near me (Randhurst) we stopped going to because (a) they got rid of things we liked (SueF was a big fan of their mustard-relish, I mourned the departure of the bottle of vinegared peppers, perfect for their chilli), (b) the place is always a dump: I've never been in there when the floor isn't at least dingy looking and often there's food or trash on the floor around the tables.
The nearest Culver's is another 5-10 minutes away, we don't go often, but if we're going to stop for fast food on the road, it's almost always our choice if it's there.

According to a Block Club article, the Ravenswood Culver's is set to open at 10 AM on May 31.

At least you could hit Margie's over there for your frozen dessert needs if Culver's isn't open for some reason.

The Curder Burger was pretty good but honesty all the cheese buried the burger flavor. Glad I tried it just so I can say I did but probably wouldn’t order it again.
